I stayed here a week while on business. It's obvious that the hotel has/is undergoing major renovation - the lobby is beautiful and the carpet has that newly installed soft feel. However, there are still some renovations happening - I'm pretty sure the 2nd floor was still being tore apart during my stay, as during the day I would hear sawing/banging. I wasn't in my room much between 8am and 8pm anyway, so this was not very distracting.
The rooms are put together really well. I love the layout, and the sliding barn door style bathroom door is a great touch. Very modern - there isn't a dresser with drawers, instead everything is wire baskets and minimalism. The desk area from where I am writing this review is among the best I've sat at while in a hotel. Notable features are USB plug EVERYWHERE - two on either side of the bad and two right behind my laptop on the built-in desk between two regular plugs. This is something this hotel gets right and so many hotels get wrong. All plugs are counter-top so you're not crawling around on the floor.
The lighting is excellent and you have many little lamps to choose from. I was never uncomfortable as the air/heat system worked well and has two control panels - one on the wall near the bed and one on the floor/wall unit under the window.
The location of this hotel is great, though the proximity to the freeway is noticeable from inside the room. A comment was made to me by front desk staff that I was on "the quiet side" of the hotel, which makes me never want to stay on the other side. I rarely heard other guests in the hotel or hallway noise, but I could hear a lot from outside. Nothing to keep me awake at night, but there was vehicle and traffic noise.
If I had to voice one "major" complaint it would be the water pressure in the sink. The shower pressure is fine, but the sink is abysmal. I understand wanting to save water, but I rarely could get hot water in the sink and it would take me a long time just to wash my hands or brush my teeth because I didn't have much pressure. Even filling up the small water cups in the room took nearly 30 seconds. Another minor-ish complaint is there is no bathroom fan, so if you shower you either should leave the bathroom door open or wait if you want to see yourself. If you're staying with friends or family, you might want to do them a solid and use a lobby restroom if you have to make a stinky.
The hotel lobby restaurant is great - the full bar, sweet staff, and really good food. I didn't want to leave the hotel to find food and that was okay. They made me feel welcome and that was where I ended up spending most evenings.
I would definitely stay here again if I were to come back for a visit, but I am hoping the water pressure issue is only due to the renovations currently going on and will improve...
Read moreI recently stayed here for 4 nights. I'm a Best Western girl and after this trip, I will stay a Best Western girl. I had reserved a king room. Upon my arrival no king rooms were available to I took a room with two queens. Not a big deal.
After settling in my room, I noticed that one of the beds looked slightly different than the other. One wasn't made up as nicely. I did a quick inspection to see if it was clean. It appeared to be but there was just something off about it. Fast forward to bedtime. It had been a long day of travel and running around and I was exhausted. I was getting ready to crawl into bed and something caught my eye... there was a man's sock partially under the pillow and partially hanging off the mattress next to the headboard. Ewww.... I looked further and found some Hot Wheels cars behind the bed (that I can deal with... a stranger's sock in my bed, no!). Needless to say, I didn't sleep in that bed. It was obvious that the bed hadn't been changed after the previous guest checked out. That is why it looked "off" from the other bed.
The next morning when I was venturing out, I let the front desk know about my findings. The gal was very nice and said this was not ok and someone would reach out to me. No one reached out.
Four days later when I checked out, the same gal was at the desk. I reminded her about my findings and she said someone was supposed to call me but the hotel was in the midst of changing management. During my stay, no one called me to follow up. I was offered no compensation, no offer of switching rooms, no offer of housekeeping coming in to change the bed. I understand things happen, but to not follow up with a guest is unacceptable. I wonder if the bed will be changed for the next guest?
In addition, the bathtub was either not clean or so old that the white finish was gone. I couldn't tell.
I will be sticking with Best Western Hotels from now on. Hilton had the opportunity to make me a happy guest by just touching base with me. Is anyone from Hilton going to call me to follow up? I doubt it. If they do, I will...
Read moreEven though I did everything correctly, including calling to verify how to properly check in my partner who was arriving ahead of me, we still had major problems upon arrival and my partner was initially refused the room that we were already checked into. We are Honors and Grand Resort members that checked-in via the app the day prior. My partners name was appropriately added to the room via the app, the service person saw the name and still demanded to see the original credit card that room was secured with. He, Thomas, exclaimed that these order came directly from the Hotel manager, Sam Briskin. Later on Thursday, I called him and left a message and followed up on Friday but he left for the weekend and never returned my call. I filed a formal complaint with Hilton but am not truly expecting any major results or apologies because the manager that took my complaint had nothing but excuses for this ridiculous behavior. This entire incident happened at 1AM in the morning after many delayed flights. There should have been nothing but a 'welcome, maybe I get your ID, I see that you're already check-in, thank you for choosing to stay with us, here's your key, and may I show you to your room'. Clearly customer service is dead. So long story short, Thomas and I had a few verbal rounds on the phone and I won. My partner was let into the room. But what if I wasn't available to speak? What if I was in the air on a long flight? Do I need to fight everytime I want someone to merely do their job? Is this the energy that I can expect everytime I vacation? If so, I'll just keep my money to myself. I do not have to put...
