New sandwich spot at the old chili peppers restaurant on the corner of Broad and Foothill.
The Bobbi - house roasted turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing, this was surprisingly really good..the turkey is really high quality flavorful, moist and wrapped in soft and fluffy bread, definitely a step up from the gobbler at Gus's. 9/10
Capastrami - pastrami, cheese (swiss?), cole slaw and dressing. Great cole slaw with the dressing on it, meat was pretty good but less than I'm used to since coming off a month long pastrami bender after St Patty's Day. A lighter version of the sandwich where you can actually eat this and still go back to work, unlike the California and New York style which is triple the meat and cheese and mustard and nap time. 8/10
American wagyu roast beef - really tender roast beef, cheese (provolone?) tons of tomato with some Italian style peppery seasoning on it, onions and lettuce. Loved the tomato and seasoning, I could probably eat this as a vegetarian sandwich minus the roast beef if I was a veggie person. But I'm not and I wish there was more roast beef on it, im used to stacking up the beef to veggie ratio unfairly in the beefs favor. Great bread, went with a large which is just ridiculously enormous - easily feeds two normal eaters. I'd give it a higher score and probably put it at the top if it had more beef 7/10
Cheesesteak - grilled steak, melted american cheese and onions. Usually comes with peppers but I think they forgot to put them on. Steak was decent, not a big fan of melted american cheese unless it's on a burger. I'd probably put this lowest on the list of what we got, definitely would have been better with peppers.
Very friendly service and a great redo of chili peppers restaurant... very clean and bright inside, had someone greeting at the door. We went around 2 and it was just coming down from a pretty busy lunch rush. Food came quickly and they made sure we were all taken care of. Marella was there holding it down and we didn't see a single person leave hungry or dissatisfied. Talked with a few other customers and they also really enjoyed their food as well.
If your in the area, or just need a change up from your regular sandwich place, pop in and give it a shot. Great value for how much food you get and the quality is good, too. apparently they have pretty good salads too, I'll probably give that a shot later this week and...
Read moreOur experience:: First, we know that Capriottis has been in San Luis Obispo, CA for six weeks but by now there should be some semblance of order.
The man who greeted us at the cashier was a nervous wreck and fumbled with our order. He was a nice guy but very nervous and confused. Some young lady had to come to help him out. I asked if he had Diet Pepsi and he had to ask for help to answer that question. After 15 minutes we gave us our order confirmation slip.15 minutes? Come on. We then went for our drinks after we had to ask the man for cups, covers, and straws? The staff behind him looked very confused and was not really a team. Everyone was doing his or her own thing? I believe that TEAMWORK MAKES A DREAM WORK, but it was nearly a team effort. We moved out to the patio and waited for our order. Nothing showed up. I said to my friend that I would go inside to find the status of our order. I brought our ticket confirmation into the order area. When I showed it to the man at the register, I asked for our order status: he was startled! He asked a few employees about the status and all of them got upset. Finally, he came back and told us that they were "working on it" WE arrived at 11:50 AM and received our order at 12::20 PM: In our opinion that was way too long a time to wait for an order! I ordered the Classic Italian sub. I'm of Italian descent but it was NOT a Classic Italian sub. They used regular ham and other cold cuts but no real Italian lunch meat: There was NO: Mortadella,Porchetta. Prosciutto....
Read moreA mixed bag. Went there Monday May 10 and had the vegetarian cheesesteak. It was fantastic. The best vegetarian fast food offering I’ve probably ever had. Plenty of Impossible “meat”, cheesy, full of flavor on the perfect bun. So good that I went back the next day and a whole new story. About half as much Impossible inside the bun to the point that the bun was the dominant part of the meal. I ordered it with the fried hot peppers and saw a few red specks in there but could not really verify the presence by taste. I’m glad I went the first day to see what they were capable of. I will return to see which version they may...
