Aptly named a tavern, this sports oriented bar has ample screens, one pool table in a party room, and a rather mundane industrial look. The bar is a highlight, with an attractive display of spirits and an impressive set of beer taps. The drinks menu lists enticing and interesting riffs on various cocktails. The server was attentive and friendly and quickly brought a Brother Thelonious beer, a dark Belgian. I like that you can order a five ounce, a ten ounce, or a pint. Stay under your limit but sample if you wish. My Bobby Hill burger came with an option of a side salad. The salad, with lemon vinaigrette dressing, seemed fresh and flavorful. Although in a small bowl, it was sort of packed for a lot of greens, fresh cherry tomatoes, and other veg. The burger was the star, a massive 1/2 lb pattie in tasty bun glistening with oil. Bacon, fried onion bits, and barbecue sauce added to the flavor. I like it saucy and moist, so requested ketchup The server didn’t keep me waiting and brought it with a smile. Overall, I had a great experience from a nice environment, excellent food, and friendly, conscientious service.

Burgers are stellar here, as well as, a whole slew of bar food. The burgers are really a meal, so be prepared. My fav is the Milestone version. They also have a real Pizza oven and do Pizzas quite well. The other bar food can be hit or miss, but is generally far superior to other places. Since the upscale Cal-Poly & Foothills crowd comes here, one can expect great service, good food, and decent prices. They have been here for quite a few years, and somehow not only made it throw the pandemic era, but still offer the same excellent burgers, drinks, and some of the original food from when they first opened. For tourists who happen to be driving by on the 1 or even the 101, this is a great place for a casual meal. The bar has a wide variety of drinks on tap, and then some. There are all sorts of great seating arrangements. Before or after eating, there are quite a few stores nearby...such as Rite Aid & Lassens. Further down the street is yet a few more mini-malls for even more shopping. This is NOT a dive bar...but a nice bar.

Came to Milestone Tavern today based on a recommendation from a friend. They have a really awesome atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating as well as seating at the bar. They have lots of TVs around the bar that are visible from all areas of the restaurant. Everything on the menu looked phenomenal. It was truly hard for us to choose what to order. We ordered the Turkey BLT and Pastrami sandwiches. Their fries are really unique and hard to describe but are absolutely delicious and some of the best fries I have ever tried. Both sandwiches were very robust and delicious. The black pepper aioli on the sandwiches was very tasty and adds a ton of flavor. Their sweet potato fries were delicious as well. The manager informed us that they were voted number one in SLO County for their dessert but we were too full from lunch to try any of it. The dessert menu looked amazing though! We will definitely be back to try more of the menu options as everything sounded amazing. Don't skip out on this on your next trip to San Luis Obispo.

The atmosphere in this place is great. It's got a slick industrial feel, is clean and well lit with a sweet view out the windows and a huge mural of mountains on one wall.

The beer list is incredible. There's an outstanding variety of rotating taps with something everyone can appreciate from stouts to sours.

The service was good, the waitress attentive but not overbearing.

The food is where this place lost its stars. We started out with tortilla soup, which was decent and contained a respectable amount of chicken, but lacked any stand-out flavors.

My husband ordered the bacon wrapped meat loaf and it came smothered in loads of what we believed was plain ketchup. You could not even see the meatloaf for the amount of it, and it turned him off to the point of not finishing his meal. I have seen meatloaf cooked with a little ketchup on top, where it almost caramelizes into the meat, but fresh ketchup like this should have come on the side. The toast tasted like it had sat in oil on low heat for too long.

I was excited to order the house made pastrami sandwich on ciabatta. This was good but for one thing: the meat was so salty I ended up breaking out in a cold sweat trying to finish it. I like salt and pastrami should have a healthy amount of it, but you know when something's so salty it tastes like the salt was powdered before being added to the food? Yeah, that. I also felt like there was too much cheese, but this is only a personal preference which may not be shared by others.

We took an order of the short rib macaroni and cheese to go. If I thought the pastrami was salty, the short rib meat was ten times saltier. It was so intensely salty I wondered if someone was trying to sabotage this kitchen; it had reached cruel joke level. I have been slugging back water all night since.

Overall, it was a mixed experience... outstanding in some ways and disappointing in others. Dialing down the salt level would improve the food ten fold. The general flavors were good but it was hard to...

Finally got a chance to stop by here for dinner after driving by numerous times. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating, which is especially appreciated when dining with little ones. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by the hostess and were taken to a table. I had requested an indoor table, but when we realized it wouldn't work with a high chair she found another table outside right away. The outdoor seating gave us a decent amount of space, and each table was under either a canopy or umbrella to shade from the sun. Once it got a little cooler the umbrellas started getting closed and heaters we're turned on to keep everyone warm. Our server was quick to greet us once we sat down, and she never left us waiting for her to check in and get our food/drink order. I was able to squeeze in a Mai Tai before happy hour ended and I was glad I did! It was well balanced and not too sweet, and they didn't skimp on the spirits. For dinner we tried the Poke Nachos and the Fish & Chips. The Poke Nachos were fresh and had a good poke to chip ratio. That plate was clean by the time we left. The Fish & Chips were finished in a similar fashion. I like that it comes with the house tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and ketchup, without having to ask. The beer battered fish was the highlight, dark golden brown, crispy on the outside and tender fish on the inside. A decent helping too. My only suggestion would be to jazz up the coleslaw a bit. It really needed some pickled carrots and dill, or something like that to bring it to the same level as the rest of the dish. When it came time to pay (since our little ones' patience was running out) our server was quick to run our card and bring a to-go box. We were quickly on our way, and we were happy we have Milestone Tavern a try. We will be...

🌟 My Experience We recently celebrated a Cal Poly graduation at Milestone Tavern with a group of 9, and it was nothing short of fantastic! 🎓🎉 From the moment we arrived, the energy was upbeat and welcoming—just what we needed for such a special day. This spot truly hits the mark for good times and great eats.

🍽️ Delicious Food We kicked off our feast with tasty hors d’oeuvres like Nashville hot chicken wings 🔥🍗 and crispy tater tots 🥔—a delicious start that had everyone diving in! For the mains, the pulled pork sliders 🐖, pastrami sandwich 🥪, Bobby Hill burger 🍔, and the burger bowl 🥗 were all packed with flavor and perfectly satisfying. Every bite was a win!

🙌 Outstanding Service Huge shoutout to our server Nate, who handled our large party with ease, warmth, and efficiency 🙌💯. He made sure everyone was happy, drinks were flowing 🍻, and our celebration felt smooth and special. Thank you, Nate, for making the day extra memorable!

🌴 Atmosphere & Vibe Milestone Tavern has a super chill, casual vibe that reminds you of your favorite local brew pub 🍺🌿. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, laugh loud, and toast to big moments with your crew. We felt right at home the whole time.
