Today was the first day I went here.
I wanted a new sushi place that was still close.
I saw this place when I tried Pizza Nova. At this point in my life, I love pizza sushi more than pizza.
Before coming, I wanted to see a menu, but was struggling to pull that up, so I called them. The girl on the phone seemed nice and she already told him that they had teriyaki bowls, so I was sold.
I got there and it's seems small, but very clean. The two girls were very nice.
They let us choose our own table.
I picked mixed tempura, a Crying Baby or Cry Baby and a Philly roll with smoked salmon. You guys, if you've never had smoked salmon in your Philly roll, you're missing out!!!
Everything was so good. I also drank hot, green tea and washed down my shrimp bowl (which I got from the lunch special) with an Asahi. I believe that's what it is.
My brother ordered the katsu chicken lunch special and a roll. He didn't think the lunch order would be enough since it was good pricing, but he was wrong.
Service was good. The chefs were good and my rolls were awesome. I'd definitely...
Read moreI cannot speak to the quality of the food, and some of the other menu items seemed reasonably priced. But after seeing the “50% Off” section of their menu, I got up and left. I’m not down with a place that says they have rolls that are “50% off”, but then intentionally overprices those rolls so that the “50% Off” price is basically the same price you’d pay anywhere else. For example, they have the Albacore Delight roll listed at $18.99 per roll. That’s outrageous. At regular price, this exact kind of special roll would only be $11-13 anyway at a place like Sushi Yama, Katsu, Love Boat, Teri Cafe, or Hooked on Sushi. Normally the most expensive special rolls at regular price are no more than about $14-16. This is the same thing Japanese Cafe (now closed) over in Vista Village used to do. It is dishonest, and it takes advantage of people who may not be very experienced with various sushi restaurants, fooling them into thinking they are getting a deal when really they’re just paying...
Read moreIf I could give less than 1 star I would. This place was just awful. The service was terrible and the crew that was working that day seemed to care less that we were there. The menu is confusing and the server kept insisting we order off the 'specials' menu but when we looked and did the math it just didn't add up. Their 'special' pricing was on par with normal sushi prices everywhere so to tell me that $9.50 was half off for a rainbow roll was just too far fetched. Who is charging $17.99 for a rainbow roll? Furthermore, who's paying that? For $17.99 there better be a good amount of Toro in there! It was just off. No one was there when we went....on a FRIDAY night and the vibe just didn't feel right. The menu featured half Chinese items and half sushi and we were afraid of the fish we'd actually get because the sushi bar itself was only half full and what was in it looked unappetizing. We literally got up and left....
