š” Got there at 5:30, asked for an esquimal ā the paleta dipped in chocolate con chispas. Nothing fancy.
Me dijeron: āNo tenemos.ā
But I could see them. Literally. Right there. En el congelador.
So I asked again, politely. And now itās: āWeād have to heat the chocolate ā it takes time.ā
So which is it ā you donāt have it, or you donāt wanna do it?
And thatās where the question starts. Not just what was said ā but how it felt.
I ordered in English. She replied in English. But the vibe said: youāre not from around here, huh?
Now⦠maybe Iām wrong. Maybe itās just laziness. Maybe I donāt match the rhythm. Maybe itās just⦠effort math.
But Iāve seen the pattern before. I speak Spanish too. Fluently. I just donāt lead with it.
And Iāve noticed: when I donāt code-switch first, the tone sometimes changes.
This time? No rush. No crowd. The line was calm. Nadie estaba agitado. Other customers got full multi-layer drinks made without issue.
And Iām asking for a paleta dipped in warm chocolate. Thatās a 90-second task. Maybe less.
So why the excuses? Why the energy shift? Why the wall?
And speaking of walls ā letās talk about that big sign up front: āWe reserve the right to refuse service.ā
In an ice cream shop? For who?
This isnāt a nightclub. Itās una neverĆa.
So what are you protecting yourselves from ā drunk families? Respectful teenagers? Or are you just laying groundwork to not be questioned when the service doesnāt match?
Because itās starting to feel less like a āpolicyā and more like a shield for low-effort attitudes.
I didnāt argue. Didnāt demand. Just said, āNah, Iām good,ā and left.
Thatās the part that should sting.
No sale. No scene. Just quiet clarity: Someone walked out not because you couldnāt serve them ā But because you wouldnāt.
So now Iām asking: Was it laziness? Was it preference? Or was it the fact that I didnāt look, talk, or act like you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would like to share my experience at this place. After stopping by for what I thought would be a pleasant experience resulted in the most unpleasant and rude interaction with the people that run that place⦠Iām currently under a disability condition that unfortunately had me waiting in the car while I sent my little girl whoās 7 years to buy some ice cream I noticed my child being ignored while standing in line there was a few staff members gossiping and chit chatting while my daughter was trying to get there attention for service from my car I noticed people going in and leaving with there orders but my child was still there expecting someone to help her with her orderā¦! Sadly she was being bypassed and ignored Why? Because sheās and innocent child that is small and canāt defend her self this is unacceptable!! So I get off my car to go check and find out whatās the problem??? These unprofessional and incompetent cashiers wore laughing and talking when I asked the reason of the delay they seemed bothered the guy who was giving me an attitude didnāt have a name tag but he was so rude I made it clear that you donāt mistreat a child it is still a costumer and they have no right to ignore and disrespect my 7 year old by not helping her with her order. Honestly with workers like these that wonāt take responsibility for there bad behavior and still have the nerve to yell and treat you like you are the problem when they should make you feel welcomed is unacceptable!!! I hope the owner knows this is discrimination and this should not be tolerated. I SURE HOPE THE OWNER TRAINS THE STAFF TO VALUE AND RESPECT EACH AND EVERY CHILD COSTUMER THAT ENTERS THAT...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going to La Michoacana since 6 years ago ever since Iāve moved to southern California. La michoacana has been a place of comfort for me ever since leaving my hometown. The place is always clean, the workers are always so helpful and welcoming. Every time I ask for a suggestion of a new ice cream flavor to try, they always suggest amazing flavors. My favorite Ice cream to get is coffee, the flavor is rich and creamy. The next best thing I get is esquimales, vanilla with coconut is my favorite since it has a light texture that is perfect to cool off with. I recently got to try their new menu item, tortas. I ordered their turkey torta, it has mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle sauce, avocado, cheese, jalapeƱo and of course the turkey. The chipotle sauce really helps the torta with simple ingredients come into one delicious dish. The guy with the beard who made my torta made sure it had the right amount of each ingredients on my sandwich, which made my experience of trying this new dish very delicious. I also ordered fruit agua fresca which is delicious and refreshing. The torta is the best thing to get when getting off from work, lunch break, or a hangout with friends. This is the best Mexican Ice Cream place in San Marcos and is always my number one suggestion to any family or friends coming in out of state or visiting somewhere far...
