Happy Lemon San Marcos — Restaurant in San Marcos

Review Edited as of 8/30/23 Last time I was here, I had a mediocre experience. My past few visits have gone better actually, so I'm editing my review. The music has been more appropriate and I would feel comfortable with younger children listening to the music here, and the service was noticeably faster. The employees were nice and friendly, I was helped by a lady who greeted me with a smile and told me about the different sweetening options and drinks. My last visit felt socially awkward, as the staff were quiet and possibly needed more customer service training, but it seems like this is no longer an issue. I enjoyed the drink, but I do think the drinks should be mixed a little better, since I made the mistake of taking a sip without mixing it first (the sweetener is very strong before it's mixed). I still think they could do with a little better atmosphere (think: the Tea Amo boba shop down the road is a great vibe). Edit from 4 to 1 star: Staff can be super rude for no reason. Most recently my orders have been made wrong, charged extra for things not ordered, didnt get items that i DID order and ask for, friend got sick from bubble waffle or matcha smoothie. If you bring up mistakes they make you get glared at and treated like dirt, maybe even scolded! How dare you ask for your correct order! Like other more recent reviews, take your business elsewhere! Plenty of nice locals like at tea amo. I will be finding a new boba place.

Original review: I was super underwhelmed by the bubble waffle on its own, but add the $1 puff cream and it's amazing!! Drinks are about $5-7 per person and waffle with cream is about $7.

I recently visited this Happy Lemon in San Marcos and enjoyed it a lot. I went in around 8:00 PM and there was no line and just a couple groups sitting at the tables indoors. I usually get a brown sugar milk tea with boba, but this most recent time I wanted to get something more bespoke to Happy Lemon. I asked the girl helping me for a good drink and she recommended the Oreo smoothie, which was really good. I enjoyed it a lot, and it really stood out from the normal Oreo beverages you'd get at a McDonald's or something. The tables and floors and countertops were all clean and the atmosphere was friendly. I would definitely love to come here again. I wish there was more tables, but I know they can't do anything about the limited space. I recommend trying this place...
