Never thought I would give a bad review to Oscars, but I felt compelled hoping that management would see it and make some changes. Let me start by saying that I've been coming to Oscar's for more than 20 years. I've probably eaten here 100 times and have referred this place to everyone looking for quality Mexican food every chance I could. I don't think I can do that anymore. Something is just off. Firstly, there quality/consistency has gone down. I used to get the same 4 or 5 items and no joke, every time, I could count on it to be delicious. Lately, just over the past 6 months, food is different. Inconsistent. Chile Relleno burrito was my go to and just amazing, well, not anymore. Really bad. Beans were different, sauce/cheese inside the relleno was not there or very little of it. Burritos have gotten smaller and way more expensive. It's just different, and not in a good way. Secondly, the customer service is just not good anymore. The most recent time I went, I ordered pollo asada fries. When I was at the window, I asked for like 5-6 of each of their green/red sauces. They are small and I had a large order. I've done this MANY times over the past 2 decades and have never had an issue. On this occasion, I was met with a strange hesitation from the cashier. She proceeded to look back at the cook and say something. I could see her face also. She was almost saying it was a ridiculous request. At least that's what her face looked like. She ended up putting 4 of each in my bag and as she was giving me my food, I jokingly said, "I'm your best customer. I've been coming here for over 20 years!" She literally replied by saying, "we don't find that as a compliment, we've been told to give 3 sauces per item." I was in shock. In what world would you act like that to a life-long customer? Over a few hot sauces?? I took my food and replied with simply, "well, that's unfortunate." and left. That was, I'm sorry to say, the last straw. I can't continue supporting a place whose quality and customer service has gone down all while prices have gone way up. Is there food horrible? No, it's still pretty good...when it's good. But as a package, I can no long recommend Oscar's. Will I go back, sure, occasionally, but I will no longer go out of my way. I hope they read this and take it to heart. I will miss...
Read moreThe food is good the service is terrible. Be sure and check your order before leaving. Half of my order was missing and when I returned to the restaurant the extremely rude waitress with glasses ignored me for quite some time then told me I needed to put a mask on or she wouldn't listen to me. I explained that I was a disabled person and was exempt from the mandate and also the mandate was lifted the day before. She replied that I need to show her paper work and prove it. Now this is not only discriminatory, its also illegal in the United States to fail to accommodate a disabled person at a place of business. By the way I was visibly parked in a handicapped space.
I scrambled and put on a mask and stood there while she continued to ignore me. Finally after I had to loudly say "please don't ignore me" she came over ripped the receipt out of my hand crumpled it up and threw it in the trash. She never looked at me or spoke to me. I stood there for 10 minutes and she finally brought me the 2 chicken tacos that were missing from my order and told me "have a nice day" without ever looking me in the eye.
This treatment was humiliating and horrible and I will be filing an ADA complaint against this restaurant. I will not tolerate this abusive discrimination and no one should. Hopefully the multiple thousands of dollars this ADA complaint will cost the restaurant owner will convince him to have a talk with his ignorant, disrespectful employees. Maybe Miss Glasses needs to go work someplace where she doesn't encounter the public because she was truly a horrible person to deal with.
You know who you are. I don't know how you...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, but sadly, something has changed and not for the better. The quality of the food has gone way down, the prices have gone up, and the overall experience is just not what it used to be.
The biggest issue? I found a ( piece of metal ) in my shrimp burrito. When I went back to the restaurant to let them know, the employees just smiled and told me I needed a receipt. No apology, no concern just a dismissive attitude. Almost as if I was lying. Very unprofessional.
On top of that, it’s clear they don’t clean their grill properly because my usual shrimp burrito now tastes like pork and other foods. If you’re someone who doesn’t eat certain meats or foods, this is a huge problem. Their carne asada fries have changed too they used to use thick-cut fries, but now they use small thin ones that don’t hold up well under the toppings, and get super soggy.
Service has also become inconsistent. The guys working there are usually friendly and will give you the sauces you ask for, but the women seem annoyed when you request extra. And if they mess up your order (which happens often), be prepared to drive back they won’t fix it over the phone or accept a photo as proof, which is frustrating if you don’t live nearby.
If you do decide to eat here, double-check your order before leaving because missing ingredients are a common issue. When you eat your food eat slow because you might find a piece of metal. Sadly, after two decades of being a loyal customer, I don’t think I’ll be returning unless things improve. I hope owners see this and make...
