10.15.24 Update: NO MAS, NO MORE... Customer Service still stinks. Gave me a chicken burrito instead of Chile Relleno. Apologized, but there IS NO consideration for the remake. Had to go back & forth twice & wait another 20 minutes for new burrito which they still stuck chicken in! Will not try again, burned too many times...NO! NO GAURANTEE OF CORRECT ORDER, NO COMPENSATION FOR YOUR INCONVENIENCE! Done, No Mas! PS- they sold my incorrect burrito with a bite gone to a customer for $3, who then wanted to fight another customer. Fun times...
Update: Bumed that the online order service through Google has ended it was VERY convenient to pre-order and pay online rather than call because often times I can't get through on the phone. Place has pretty good size burritos- the wet burritos are huge, tasty tacos a little on the small side so would order extra (3) for those with an appetite. Their Jamaica drink was very tasty and really appreciated that they asked if I wanted ice or not, and the Large size was nice! Update 5.30.22: Family members gotten sick twice about 8 months ago so we stopped making this our local go to. We tried again recently everything was good but no fermented cabbage with the 4 cheese pupusas we ordered which is a huge part of the experience so got a Salvadorian quesadia...😔 Update 10.2022: We have been trying the place again & so far so good. Also it was a fun, positive atmosphere- just when stopping in to pick up my order some good music came on and there was dancing and smiles in...
Read moreFood safety needs to be addressed here. I go here often fro the passed 4 years! I loved this place, but recently they showed me they don’t care about their regulars. My burrito was made wrong and they insisted it wasn’t their mistake so I had to buy a new one. (I didn’t eat the burrito at all, I could see the sour cream through the tortilla) because I loved this place I bought another burrito, but let them know I was disappointed. I ate the new burrito and my partner had a few bites too. THE NEXT DAY WE BOTH WOKE UP WITH FOOD POISONING. It’s been two days and I’m still getting back well. I will never go back. Not only was the e service dismissive and money greedy, but clearly food safety is not a priority. Either a virus or bacteria was on services in the kitchen or they are not washing their hands after using the bathroom and touching other services. As someone who went to culinary school, and understands food safety. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. (I got a carne asada burrito, FOOD SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO MEAT. Cross contamination and unsanitary practices need to be taught to the employees AND the management needs to learn customer service skills when they make a regular customers food...
Read moreTwo words...Trompudo BURGER...that's right, I said it. You can order a burger with shrimp and chorizo or asada and melted cheese. Wait, son you might say, tortas and cemitas can be had all over the place. Yes, that may be true but the Trumpudo burger is like a grilled tuna sandwich in a world of paninis. Sometimes you just need a simple sandwich with great ingredients.
Before you order, take a look at the kitchen staff...we'll wait, go ahead. See those ladies in there? Remind you of the kitchen of your friend's house whose mom/sister/aunt/cousin would always be in the kitchen cooking lights out food? Well that's the vibe you get here. Like they are concocting some long ago forgotten recipe that only remains because it is passed by word of mouth from one generation to another. See those gigantic stew pots? Probably seen more carnitas or buche or asada than I could dream of.
If you are crusin' through El Sobrante looking for something better than fast food but faster than a sit down...you should give this place a try. It's not that you CAN'T get the traditional stuff, but the fact that they'd throw a creative curve ball up there really speaks to...
