Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience at El Nopal. This past Saturday we wanted to try a New Mexican place. After ordering the waitress said if we made our order online we could save 10%. So I got online and attempt to order the same thing I had already told the waitress. We ordered steak and chicken fajitas mixed. However, on their website to order when you select âMixed Fajitasâ there is no place to place that you donât want shrimp accept in comments. So I pull up the Fajitas, and there is no option to choose which meat, so I stated in the notes that we wanted steak and chicken fajitas. Then we ordered a wet burrito, a quesadilla no sour cream or pico, and 2 sides of rice. When we received the order, I found 2 errors. 1) there was only one side of rice. According to waitress they placed both sides into one container. Even though I found it odd to put two different peoples food in the same container, no big deal, I can separate that at home. #2 the fajitas were only steak. So waitress goes and asks manager/owner about it. He said it wasnât mentioned on the slip that we wanted mixed. I explained to waitress not only did I tell her, that I also placed it in the notes. She went back and then told us manager said that he did not print the notes, but that we should have selected mixed fajitas. I showed the waitress on their site there is no way to select any meats or to de select seafood. Since we have a seafood allergy in the home we did not select the mixed. I also advised that he mustâve printed the notes because they got the note to put no sour cream or pico on the quesadilla. Waitress goes back to manager/owner and he said he can give us chicken too but it will cost us an additional$7.99. I asked why would it cost us another 8 bucks if on the menu the price difference between regular and mixed fajita is only $2.00. She said we would have to buy the complete regular plate again. I advised that I wanted to speak to the manager. His first excuse to not come talk to me was that he did not speak English. I advised I am fluent in Spanish. Waitress went and spoke to manager/owner again and told me that he refuses to come speak with me and if we wanted the chicken we had to pay the extra 8 bucks. I told her that I understand having to pay for the chicken but not for a whole portion. I suggested that it could have been resolved by just giving us a little bit of chicken and charging us the difference between the two plates and I find is very unprofessional that he would not come speak with us.
To top it off: My quesadilla was burnt, the fajita meat was crunchy, and the burrito had zero flavor. 0 âď¸...
Read moreI have been at this location multiple times to get soup. This time I came in and the soup look totally different it smelled spoiled and the crab leg had black spots on it and meat was super dark and tasted weird. so I politely went and talk to the cashier and expressed my concern and let them know I do not want it anymore to please exchange it for some pupusaâs the cashier super nice said yes. A few moments later the manager came out to my table said with his hand on his hip and asked what was wrong with the soup with a rude demeanor. I explained the issue again was and showed him the food and would like a some Pupusas instead. Then the cook came out to look at the soup at our table side. I explained again what accred and I asked let them know again I did not want soup to exchange for Pupusas and They said no and didnât see anything wrong with my soup. I then told them I would like to just pay and leave. At this time everyone in the restaurant was watching us. I am so embarrassed at this moment I asked to speak to them by the register. They them tried to charge me for soup I told the i didnât want it the manger was irritated and told her to not charge me I asked. I will sadly no longer be buying from them no more. Manger said he was manger and owner and didnât see anything wrong with what happened and only said sorry after seeing how embarrassed I...
Read moreItâs a seat yourself environment which is okay with me because my husband likes to face the door. I watched a few people have to walk out because there wasnât a table available but the server was very kind and asked questions to make sure our order was right. Our drinks were refilled promptly after the chips and salsa.
If youâre looking for something authentic I wouldnât recommend. The salsa was never refilled from the first offering which is okay but Iâm used to other restaurants in the area asking if they would like more. My husband had the steak fajitas and he enjoyed them with the hot flour tortillas but his beans had no cheese while mine did.
I opted for the queso enchiladas with chicken and the queso. The enchiladas had no cheese inside just chicken and the queso on top was very thin and lightly placed. My beans had cheese while my husbands didnt so he mixed the rice with beans as no one asked if everything looked ok until we were nearly finished.
The music playing on the TV in the corner wasnât the best either. It was louder than what I would have expected if any music at all.
We probably wonât go back but Iâm sure on a day with less people the service...
