The Cafe is tiny, tables are set tightly together, and the service is horrific. Co-workers and I decided to join together for our 1h lunch window today. We had been sitting for nearly 10-15 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Our server, Casey, did not bother to introduce herself by name. Which would not have been an issue if the rest of her skills were positive. We finally got to order our food. 40 minutes later only one of us had been served her plate, the rest of us still waiting with 5 minutes left to our lunch break ending. As I had ordered Mango-Habanero Wings, that I did not want to take back to the office while handling paperwork, I requested to cancel my order while the rest of our party requested to-go boxes. The manager whom I initially made this request to just responded by saying they are almost done and in the process of plating the food, then walked away. A short moment later we all were served our food on dine-in plates, while everyone looked at eachother with confusion, we requested to-go boxes a second time, and I again requested to have my order canceled as I was unwilling to pay for a service (dine-in experience with fresh food) I did not receive. Our server Casey threw her arms up in the air and said "What do you want?" I repeated, that I would like to cancel my order. She walked off with an attitude. As she was walking off one of us urged her that we were in a time crunch. A view minutes later she returned with everyone's checks, slammed them on the door and walked away. At this point we still had not received to-go boxes which eventually one of us got up, walked up to the kitchen to request them, and brought them back to our tables. At that point, some of us had already slung down their food just to hurry and get out of there. Paying for checks proved just as difficult, and was handled absolutely unprofessionally and rude. My party still was kind enough to leave a tip, but it truly was not deserved. Really, we should have been issued an apology for this terrible service and our orders should have at least been discounted if not free.
We are not naive to the fact that lunch time is busy hour. Nonetheless, in a customer focused industry that is not an excuse for such terrible...
Read moreOn Monday, my visit to the Three Dollar Cafe in Sandy Springs was very troubling! I ordered the lemon pepper wings, which are always delicious! My visit took place around shift change. My first server was terrific and attentive. Unfortunately for me, she was leaving before I finished my meal. She assured me that the server taking over would take care of me. Well, that he did. He literally took me! When I asked for the check, he graciously gave it to me, and I looked it over. Satisfied with the charges, I gave him my debit card. When he brought it back to me, I filled in the amount, scratched through the tip area since I was leaving a cash tip, and signed it. The next day, I checked my bank ledger and saw a charge from this lovely establishment for $31.10. I immediately called to speak with the manager because I’m sure my bill did not total $31.10. In fact, an order of 10 wings is $12.99, a house salad is 4.99, and I had a glass of wine, which I believe was around $6. All these charges together do not total $31.10. The total without tax was $23.98 (if the wine’s price is accurate). Let me get to the point! According to the manager, the server was new and added himself a $5 tip in addition to the $5 I left him. Please pay attention to your charges when dining out! An extra $5 here or $5 there may not be much, but it adds up if the servers decide to take your money. I loved this place and invited friends and family to join me occasionally. It’s within walking distance from my house, and the food is rather quite good! Needless to say, I don’t plan on visiting again after this experience. And by the way, while speaking with the manager, he scolded me by accusing me of being combative or irate. I never raised my voice and just happened to speak at the same time he was speaking, which I guess because I’m a woman constitutes being upset! It’s so sad that customer service is an afterthought in today’s world! Like I said before, anyone reading this, please pay attention to the charges after dining at the Three Dollar Cafe or any...
Read moreI Haven't been here in over 15 years and it is the same great food, service and pricing it has always been. My office used to be at Northridge Road. We would have lunch hour business meetings there as well as longer Friday relax times. When the weather is good you can sit on the deck, take in some great tunes and have a good beer if you like. Totally family atmosphere yet with an adult vibe. It's also one of the safest places to eat since the police eat there all the time (love you guys, your tabs always on me).
They have a menu for all appetites. The wings are seriously the best I've had in the world (after traveling many places). Their steak and cheese hoagies, reuben sandwiches, their baby back ribs right down to the french fries never disappoint.
I'm not sure how long they've been there but I know its been over 25 years. That to me says it all. You can't survive that long, especially in today's market, and not be quality. The food is consistently the same. You don't change perfect and what works good if your smart. Thankfully they haven't and I believe that is the secret of their success. Most of the servers have changed since I was there yet with the same great service so the training is consistent. That is what usually falls apart from generation to generation but not with these guys.
I could go on and on but hopefully you get the point. And NO, I don't own stock or have family working there and I don't give 5 stars to just any place. I'm just really impressed and feel that great places like this deserve taking the time to tell others. I really believe you, like me, will not be disappointed. Again, there's something on the menu to please most any palette, so give them a try and I'm sure you'll have the same response. While I'm confident they'll remain there as a restaurant anchor in the midst of those coming and going but please be sure to comment as well not only to spread the word but to make sure they continue to get the business...
