I shy away from 5 star reviews. The moment I think that's where I'm heading I automatically become a little more critical. I found 1 thing I might ding a touch for. But it's a freebie. Can you fault a freebie? The salsa..... chips and salsa are free. The chips were great. Unsalted. Hot. The salsa had a tomato sauce feel. There were other things. I could taste cilantro. Garlic. Onion. But still tomato sauce forward. It was good. Just not my favorite. But it went surprisingly fast with the conversation and was by no means unpleasant.
But the atmosphere. The owner. Cleaned our table. Served others food (huge plates of food) cleaned up tables. Even made my drink. Very impressed at his involvement and how well every one worked together.
But let's talk about the food. I went easy. Nachos. So easy to make. So easy to be passive about. My wife had a chicken quesadilla. Sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to get just right. And they nailed it. I've had bigger nachos. But I don't think I've ever had better. The flavors. The seasoning. Everything seemed well thought out. Nothing overpowered anything . The dishes felt as thought thought, care, even love....was in everything. I couldn't have asked for better. Same with the chicken quesadilla. Loaded with peppers and onions. Flavor to a precise point. If you want pedestrian food.... or something quickly thrown together , Sanford has applebees..... or save time with a pizza delivered. If you want a food experience...... feeling like somebody's spanish grandmother is cooking in a kitchen.... then dont sleep on Azul Agave. They checked all the boxes and did it with style and smiles. And.... they have a Presidente margarita. Im not a cuervo fan, I asked for Sauza Hornitos and the owner happily obliged. And made one of the best margaritas I've ever had. Strong enough to say "Wow, that's good" but still be enjoyable on a warm afternoon. I'll be back to try the Ceviche. Definitely a win...

Azul Agave peaked my interest. The owner/bartender Luis greets everyone at the door, I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered a cold beverage. They have a great selection, including Margarita flights. Luis will use 3 heat levels of pepper infused tequila if you’re that adventurous. I had a cold, draft Modelo Especial to drink and for the entree, I had Molcajete. It was excellente. I don’t usually photograph my food but my neighbors at the bar did. It was an impressive presentation of chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, & accessorized with avocados, rice, beans, & corn and flour tortillas. Seriously, enough food for 2-3 people but I cleaned my plate. I had skipped breakfast. I drove by twice to find parking but finally found a space just around the corner at The Midtown Mall. It’s well worth the short walk and well worth the detour away from that parking lot...
Read moreOrdered take out and have not eaten in at Azul Agave yet, but so far unbelievable. Just fantastic across the board.
Usually take out isn't as good as going to eat in, but this experience changed my mind on that. Generous portions, perfectly cooked rice with no crunch or burning on my HUGE burrito and the egg rolls were insanely good. All the veggies were fresh and crunchy like they should be, no soggy mess at all which is so rare for take out.
The amount of meat in my burrito was absolutely insane, more than I could eat in a sitting and it was again perfectly cooked and juicy. The burrito was so large it came in a serving tray... I had to cut it in half and save the other half for another time. I love that.
Really impressed with my first experience and I can't wait to try more from these guys. Giving 5 across the board even though it was delivery because I'm positive the people behind the awesome food are also...
