Tramway Diner is halfway to UNC children’s hospital and my house. Every couple months my grandson and myself stop, usually for lunch, but today dinner, on our way home from an Appointment We always take dinner home for my son and husband. We always order liver and onions and I get the same for my husband. My son prefers that I get him something else. My grandson, who is now 4 always shares my liver and onions and I always get him collard greens. He always finishes the greens. Ash, my grandson was diagnosed with Autism a year ago. He is level 3 and just recently developed new sensory issue with people sitting down, so this makes it difficult to dine out. However he is on a feeding schedule for is feeding issues so we stop. At one point during dinner I wanted to take my food Togo, the kind waitress insisted we stay and reassured me that Ash was fine, that I need not worry about “it” holding back my tears I stayed for a few more bites of my delicious home cooked liver and onions. She also shared her story of love and hope.💕 I really needed to hear this. After getting my food together to take home, I grabbed my wiggley and not so happy grandson and went to the cashier to pay. The host insisted that she got our check. Again the tears rolled. I am so grateful for the kindness of these two women for showing and sharing love and compassion. Neither had to, but they did. I wish I caught their names but I didn’t, so tonight when I thank God for my blessings for the day Tramway Diner,, their staff, and food will be at the top! I love a good diner, and they...
Read moreOkay. I am basing this on what my sister has said and only on service from one phone call that I placed, but it was good enough for me to offer 5 stars. I live in Tulsa, and I have a sister in Sanford that was traveling home from a holiday trip. As we talked while she drove, she decided she was really in the mood for Tramway’s Thursday only special on spaghetti. It is apparently phenomenal. She still had a little ways to drive and didn't want to stop and wait for the order to be made (the Diner stop actually was past where she lived) as she was tired. I suggested a call ahead take out order, and since it was my idea and also more convenient, I told her I would call and order and pay for her spaghetti. She didn't think that they would do that all the way from Tulsa, but I had faith and was determined my sister had what she wanted. I called and talked to a nice young lady and explained my dilemma. That I needed to order and pay for my sister’s food that she would pick up at some window of time in the not too distant future. She was very helpful and was happy to take care of it. I suspected she thought I was a little cuckoo though. lol My sister confirmed it later that when she told her who she was, she said the girl had a funny grin. So from my sister: 5 star spaghetti. From me: 5 star service I apologize for the atmosphere rating, but I can only go off the photos. The next time I visit my sister, though, we are...
Read moreTonight was our third time here and it was not so good. Hubby ordered the Granny sampler, cheddar on the scrambled eggs (came out with American) and the eggs were super dry/over cooked. The pancakes were cold as were the bacon strips. The grits were watery and no seasoning, not even salt and he didn’t even order grits he ordered well done hash browns. He also had a side of sausage gravy and took one taste and sadly said that’s awful, it tastes like a tin can. I ordered a bowl of the broccoli cheddar soup and our waitress was sweet and brought me a biscuit and the mushroom Swiss burger with fries and brown gravy. The soup was yummy and cheesy and biscuit was really good. The burger was cooked WELL DONE so it was gray and dry!! No flavor at all. The fries were good and the gravy was just ok. Our daughter had the soup and a modified Chicago dog. Again the soup was good and she really like her dog! The waitress did tell us that they had some new cooks in the kitchen and they were much busier than anticipated for a Monday. She did offer hubby something else but he lost his appetite. We will try this place again when we are in the area next time but this night was...
