Great meal and large portions. Babes brings you a platter of your preferred meat, salad, biscuits, gravy, corn, green beans, and mashed potatoes. It's a lot of food and is what I call comfort food, the kind of stuff you used to get at large family gatherings at grandmas. We couldn't finish it so we asked for our check, desert to go, and a box to bring the leftovers home. This is where it gets strange: they'd allow me to take my meats home but not the veggies. They wanted to toss out the leftover veggies since they were served family style. I'll post pictures but it was a lot of food and for a 50 dollar tab for two I'd like to have what's left for lunch the next day. We spoke with the manager (I hate having to do that) and he explained since the veggies were "bottomless" bowls people would order a second or third round and ask to take it home, abusing their hospitality. I get it but we were on our first round and they chose the portions to bring us so I kindly asked they let me take it home. He relented and we brought it home but I still left with the feeling they thought we were trying to game their system. To me it seems a shame that their policy requires them to toss out edible food and it makes me wonder what they do with it afterwards. Trash? Compost? It makes no sense to me and for that reason I may rethink my next trip to Babes.

A really quaint local place that has some nice ambiance but also isn't as great as people might make it seem. A group of us came for dinner on Wednesday night and overall had an enjoyable experience. The wait staff will occasionally sing a song on live microphones or do a line dance which is entertaining to see. Two of the waitresses saying Fleetwood Mac's dreams, and did an outstanding job at it. The fried chicken was okay. It was really crispy, moist but overly salted and didn't really have a lot of flavor. The sides included green beans which were really vinegary, mashed potatoes that were great with a gravy. One of the biggest issues with the restaurant is they don't have a liquor license, so after a long hot day you can't sit down and have a beer with your fried chicken A beer from a great selection of drafts. Overall, it's okay if you want to get a little bit of local flavor, but there are other great restaurants around

Great food, service and clean restrooms. Only 5 things to choose from on the menu so really easy. Singing waitress, just one I believe and was really good. So had alittle entertainment along with our meal. Not sure if all Babe's are like this but I am pretty sure the food will be the same. Wife an I had the smoked chicken and was great. Our boy had the fried, he said way better than KFC. Most of the rest of the group had the chicken fried steak and it was polished off. Bottle less biscuits, corn and mashed potatoes were excellent. Greenbeans has pork in them so didn't try them as we don't eat pork or catfish that were also on the menu. If you have a group like us, they will not set you until everyone is there. Wait outside on old tractor sets or in the waiting area on old car sets a friendly cat who loves pets or sit in all kinds of chairs. There is a gift shop next door but not connected with Babe's I don't think. Enjoy!

I’ve always loved Babe’s since I was a kid when my family and I went. It never fails to hit the spot and the chicken is always what I expect it to be, not to mention the sides and desserts are insanely delicious as well.

However, I have an issue. The 4-star rating is well deserved and attributed to the great food and variety of content, don’t get me wrong, though my issue lies with the poor care taken to follow precautions in regard to the current pandemic that is happening worldwide.

I was debating whether or not to dine in or carry-out after calling to ask about their COVID-19 policies and after seeing the inside, I’m glad my instincts stuck with me when I decided on carry-out. When I walked up to the door I could see through the windows, a massive and almost scary amount of people entering without masks and could clearly see that the tables were not filled to social distancing standards as they had told me, and that everyone who ate there was as close together as you would find them during pre-pandemic times. Definitely not 6 feet apart, and there wasn’t a single sign requiring a face mask for entry as there should be as a result of Texas Governor’s Executive Order GA-29, which went into effect on July 3rd of this year.

So unless Babe’s Chicken is somehow above the law or capable of time travel, I find this extremely disturbing and irresponsible on behalf of those who run the restaurant. I don’t even want to know how many people may have gotten sick from this and how many more people are just going to bypass what’s in place because they feel a “mask isn’t necessary.” Or “the virus isn’t that serious.” It was so bad I wore two mask and used hand sanitizer at least 3 times. No matter what you think or feel politically , this is a very real thing and this should be treated more seriously.

The employees were following protocol as far as I could tell and were wearing masks (except the ones who think it’s okay to wear it below your nose as if it does anything to help).

Great food, but I’m not sure it’s enough to overlook the violations...

This place is absolutely amazing! If you are in Texas and are looking for great service and some amazing food, then this is definitely a place you need to check out. As soon as you walk in, you know you are in some kind of true Texas restaurant. You have your country music playing, the people are super friendly, and (if you are not from here) they all say "y'all". Haha

Food - There isn't much of a selection, hell... there isn't even a menu! They give you 5 choices of chicken, you choose one and the server takes care of the all your side dishes that are included with your meal. We first received our biscuits and salad. One word for the biscuits... BOMB! By tar the best biscuits I have ever had and tastes great with some melted butter, honey, or some delicious kind of molatsses. The salad was very plain, but the dressing was delicious and very refreshing. I ordered the chicken fried steak and the thing was the size of my dinner plate and tasted amazing! Would definitely recommend it if you are in to CFS. The cream of corn was the best I have ever tasted. (Only have had it outta a can, haha) The mashed potatoes were super creamy and silky, the gravy was thick and full of flavor.

Service - Not sure if I have received better service at any place I have ever been at in my old home town of San Jose. Our server, Tiffany I believe, was awesome. She made sure we always had a full drink, was super friendly, and made sure we didn't have to worry about a thing while enjoying our delicious meal. She always had a smile on her face and make our experience that much better.

In the end, we will definitely be coming back here again. I would love to try the smoked chicken next time. If you want amazing food, fabulous service, and a great family atmosphere, then this is the...

I have only been to this exact Babes twice in about 6 years and decided to try the catfish for the first time. I found out there was an extra crispy option. It was tasteful and decent. However the customer service was unwelcoming of an environment. Upon the first 10 minutes of my order being put out, I was on my second spoonful of mashed potatoes when I was handed the check at my table. I was asked for desert and I said yes to go. I clearly was not near finished with my 4 pieces of catfish because I just finished the first piece. Then the waitress took the receipt back as I kindly requested another plate. Keep in mind the catfish is 16.99. Yet on the second order of catfish I paid the same price to find out I received 1/2 of the first order as they were slivers of catfish. Very interesting of an experience I may add.

As I was asking for more greens and corn bread, I noticed the other 5 tables were not given the same service. This specific staff on TH night does not value an all inclusivity nor do they appreciate diversity in there restaurant. Careful as well, I was told the Roanoke location is faster because the table next to me waited for 15 minutes and they said " seems like our food has gone missing and I'm going to need to speak to someone about their service" I reassured the table it could be because they were busy yet actually there were 6 waiters and 7 other tables. I would recommend the managers to be more efficient & effective to create a more professional experience and environment for all future customer and clients. Not recommended for poor service and lack of equity to support the community. This may be a family dining setting, yet it's absolutely not a place where I would choose to take my family after...
