We stopped in for breakfast this morning, which was our first visit to this current location. We had previously visited Lighthouse Cafe when it was further east on Periwinkle. That former location was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. We always thought their food was the best on the island. That's still the case. One improvement at this location was that the establishment was much cleaner, as was made possible by new construction. Fortunately, many of the framed photos of lighthouses from around the world were saved from the old location and adorn the walls here. Today, the special board featured a Travis Kelce scramble, which was amazing. My party also ordered Denver omelet, pancakes, and various kids' meals. Most meals were served with toast and strawberry preserves. The strawberry preserves were so fresh and delicious, everyone in our group raved about them and wanted more. In fact, all ages, kids, adults, seniors, were delighted with the food. Our waitress was super polite, friendly and attentive, One little issue for some was that the sun shines very brightly through the large windows at the front of the dining area and there were no shades on the windows. As one was seated, that bright sun shone in their eyes. We observed parties seated at these tables instantly requesting other tables out of the sun. Eventually, there were folks that didn't mind the sun as much and these tables did fill up. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday morning and the vibe was one of fun family enjoyment, because that's what people were doing. We loved our meal and entire experience at LHC and will definitely return for another meal soon. It is still the best...
Read moreAfter reading many great things about Lighthouse Cafe of Sanibel Island, my wife and I visited today (24May2024) for breakfast.
The restaurant was well-attended and we entered to be seated immediately. The restaurant was neat and well organized. It was aesthetically pleasing.
Everyone we encountered from the gal bussing tables (also serving coffee), to our server Maddi (?sp), to the former owner and his nephew both overseeing the front of house operation, were very pleasant and working hard.
I ordered a sausage breakfast sandwich with their “famous” breakfast potatoes, with a side of corned beef hash. My wife had 2 eggs poached medium , home-made strawberry jam, and marble rye toast. Her meal also included their breakfast potatoes. The food was served quickly, arrived at a good temperature, and the portion sizes were good. Everything tasted “okay”. The prices were a touch higher than comparable restaurants in the area. Their fresh squeezed OJ was very good. Unfortunately their coffee was not. All the food was GOOD, but I have had many a better breakfast potato than the ones people rave about from Lighthouse Cafe. They were NOT bad, they were just not fantastic. They were ….there. I would eat them again, but I don’t understand the hype.
We would probably visit...
Read moreThe meal was not Good ( horrible to say the least.) First we waited 45 minutes not unusual right. Second, once seated we were put at an two top table almost in the aisle with no space, the place is too small for the amount of tables and the volume of customers. Third; The food, my wife order the wheat pancakes with no flavor at all. I order the Hungry Fisherman which is a seafood omelette with Tender bits of shrimp, krabmeat, and scallops smothered with our creamy alfredo sauce it had one shrimp, two small scallops, and something that should be crab meat but I guess it was really Krabmeat looked like imitation carb meat which I pulled all out and discarded and this is how I was able to count the other meat( horrible to say the least. The one star is for the wheat toast, jelly and grits. We are foodies and this is the first horrible review I have ever given. I have not even gotten to the service. The first 5 minutes sitting no acknowledgement from the waitress then she gets us coffee after that 10 minutes before she returned to take our order as she kept saying I’ll be right with you. Very bad service on top of bad food!! Do yourself a favor don’t...
