The Shack of Sanibel — Restaurant in Sanibel

I absolutely love this cute adorably painted little place with lovely furniture on the front porch and patio and stools inside and it’s many many many delicious flavors of custard. Soooo many to choose from. They are all soooo yummy. It’s a place I always always always must stop at when visiting Sanibel. However, I don’t know if anything can be done about the no-see-ums/midge’s? Even inside the cute little building. I get bit so horribly bad and have to come home (1/2 hour away) and take a long soaking bath, then put hand sanitizer on. Please know this won’t ever stop me from getting my custard/ice cream though. I will always visit regardless. Just was wondering if something could be done about the no-see-ums/midge’s? I know they are a big problem all over most of Sanibel, but this little place seems to be concentrated with them. Thank you for your yummy delicious ice cream/custard. Stopped in The Shack of Sanibel today for the first time. I recieved a welcoming greeting from staff as I entered and my family and I were offered a free sample of the flavor of the day custard with Oreo pieces and cookie dough. We enjoyed the single scoops of the flavor of the day in a dish and a "Shackit" with strawberries. The custard was super fresh and was so delicious. It really hit the spot on this hot day. Cold beverages including water, soda, and Powerade are sold in the cooler. Almost 25 different flavors of custard are prepared in pint containers to grab and go with. Chocolate cover frozen bananas with and without nuts are another option for a quick grab. Definitely a place to stop in for cold frozen treats when visiting...

First time visiting this establishment. The ice cream was wonderful, the service was not. The young lady who took our order was put out that I changed my order size. Very curt with my older guest. I paid and stepped back. When called to pick up order she tells me my card didn’t go through so I used a different credit card. After I pulled out my card she said she accidentally made me pay again for someone else’s order. Then couldn’t figure out how to refund me. She had someone else try to help me (who was very nice) but she jumped on the next register to help someone else and couldn’t look at me. I now have to go back tomorrow to get it sorted out.
