Loosies is my latest visit in my quest to find OC's best pizza. This is a great pizza place.
Food: The crust was light and crispy, exactly what you're looking for when getting this type of NY style slice. The sauce did it's job...not special, but good. It held the slice together as it should. The cheese was delicious, the perfect amount of salty, and cooked correctly. A perfect cook for this slice, really. Probably the best crisp for an NY slice I've found in OC. It was very delicious, a very good 8-8.25/10. I will 100% return when in downtown Santa Ana. I also tried the white slice as a bonus, and it was fantastic. So is the black and white cookie they sell.
Service: My type of service. Very friendly at the register, clear when they called your order, attentive if you needed something, and didn't bother you otherwise.
Atmosphere: Perhaps my favorite thing about the place. A proper slice shop, especially for late night, with two small tables and a standing bar for a small number of people to eat, a few tables outside, and impeccable decor inside. Anyone who displays Squidward's "Bold and Brash" or the painting of Tony Soprano and his horse gets an 11/10 for atmosphere. Loved it. The vibe alone almost bumps the actual slice up to an 8.5.
I will also say that I absolutely love that they only have 8 pies, basically the essentials (and Hawaiian). Just do the main stuff, and do it the best way possible, almost an In-N-Out view towards the menu. They execute what they do in a great way. While I don't think it's the best pizza in OC, it is really really good, it is a PERFECT slice shop, and probably the best late night pizza around. If you're in DTSA and enjoy NY pie, you certainly...
Read moreCame into this place on a late night out checking out the downtown Santa Ana art walk. Just one of the few places that were open late so girlfriend and I decided to stop by and grab a slice of pizza for dinner before heading back. This place was new, it barely had any details about it besides a picture of the logo. But what the heck, we came, we ate, and it was delicious. Definitely a upgrade to frozen thin crust pizza. We each had a loosie which was their name for single slice ny style pizza. Fantastic thinly sliced pizza, crust still had the crispness as I bit into it. As always it pairs well with ranch.
After a quick bite, I wanted to help add some details about this place so hopefully the pictures help some people decide to give this place a try. They said their phone number is subject to change once they can secure a landline number, but the outdoor picture has their current contact number.
I eat a decent amount of food and one ny slice was good enough for dinner so 8 slices of a full pizza pie should do for a party of 4-6 people.
I saw the neon Budweiser sign so i'm guessing/hoping eventually beer would be served,...
Read moreLoosies Pizza isn't obvious because there's no sign on the building itself but if you look for 300. 103 or a sign out in the central walkway, you'll find it quickly enough. The place is certainly worth a visit for its well baked thin crust pizza. Topping are generous and a good quality. My favorite is the white pizza which is elegant and tasty Although I preferred using a few ample shakes of the garlic salt on the counter to amp up flavor. Four solitary tables sit outside and I must admit that it's not exactly a welcoming café vibe with almost no shade but it's better than nothing or than sitting inside the dark, some might call it creepy, interior. But it's that kind of place edgy/hip. The bathroom Continues to reflect the alternative dark vibe and overall, the...
