Orange Grill Teriyaki — Restaurant in Santa Ana

Tried this place after I finished with the doctor around the corner. I was overall impressed. Can't imagine doing better if you're hankering for some teriyaki in the area.

Service was prompt. Even after they just finished a To-Go order for several people. It only took about 10 minutes before I got all the food I ordered. Staff was very nice and helpful. The place inside is pretty plain looking. I noticed most people were getting their orders ahead and picking them up.

I decided to try two things. Teriyaki chicken burrito and Udon with beef. Also they have their House Made Ginger sauce that would probably be good on anything, but was great on my burrito.

Rice in the burrito was delicious! Was the same color as teriyaki sauce. I don't know how they did it, but I loved it! Chicken was obviously really good with it too. Was a good size burrito, I didnt think it alone would fill me up, but actually with all the rice I was quite full. I had a few bites of the Udon I ordered before I asked for a To-Go container. Was also really good. The noodles had a beefy taste and the beef was also very flavorful.

I suggest trying the Ginger Sauce they make also. I don't think I'd say it's especially ginger-ey. It's more sweet then anything. So even if you're not crazy about Ginger. You really...

I used to eat here often when my work was nearby and it first opened, and it was like 7 bucks for a huge combo meal. It was a huge hit with my coworkers. Haven't come in years since when COVID first hit, but I decided to visit again lately. Obviously it cant be considered cheap food anymore, but I think the food is as good and satisfying as I remembered and I will continue to visit occasionally.

One thing, orange grill if you are seeing this, I miss when the crunch roll was just arguably wastefully covered in tenpura flake, but it was so fun and crunchy and it was one of my favorite parts, I came twice in the past few months, dine in and take out, and both times it was just a small pinch of flakes already softened by moisture. Hate giving 1-Stars but we have been coming here several times a month since they opened & the chicken has always been plentiful and not burnt or overcooked so we have not gone to any competitors in years. For some reason they changed their magic teriyaki/soy sauce stuff and took out the sweet Teriyaki part so now it just tastes like awful burnt or bitter homemade soy sauce. Please make your sauce sweet again and I will change the review back to a 5-star and start buying 8-12 bowls/month...
