Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in Santa Ana

I have eaten at Rubios in the distant past, and after this visit I remembered why I had stopped going. I wasn't really happy with the size of the burrito for the price, I could have gone to Chipotle and gotten a bigger, better quality burrito for about 50 cents more. The quality of Rubios seems very average or below average, it's more like slightly better fast food from Del Taco or Taco Bell, but with much higher prices. I got a battered fish burrito, but the fish was soggy/mushy. Chips were ok though. Rubios must have a good graphic designer to do up their menus and ads, but it really doesn't match the quality.

I originally sat down outside and noticed a gross smell. I then realized I was sitting by the trash can, which had a foul odor coming from it. Trash cans that smell like that should be cleaned or removed, or should not have seats placed next to them. I ended up going to another seat. I used to be a regular at Rubios until recently. About a few months ago I ordered the 2 fish taco plate to go and noticed there was mold on the tortillas when I went to take a bite. I called the restaurant to let them know they are serving moldy tortillas and stopped eating here due to that experience. I decided to try it again as it's been a while. Bad idea. Do not enter the door of Rubio's on 2841 W. MacArthur if you care about customer service or safety of how your food is made. I witnessed the most unsanitary things a fast food restaurant can do. I was standing at the counter waiting for my food and saw the young man who was using the electronic meter they use to check food. He contaminated the probe then stuck it back in the food. I talked to the Manager. She does not care. Eat somewhere else. Anywhere else. Do not risk getting sick off this joke of a fast...
