As we stepped into Brass Bear Brewing, the cozy atmosphere immediately put us at ease. Nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone, this hidden gem offers more than just great beer—it’s a delightful culinary adventure. It’s dog and family friendly. You can bring the kids there and they can play in the kids area so the parents can enjoy a beer out in the sun shine. It’s a win win for every family. Fun for all! Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the Blood Orange Beer. It’s safe to say that this brew has forever changed my beer-drinking standards. The vibrant hue hinted at the citrusy goodness within. With every sip, I was transported to sun-kissed orchards, the tangy sweetness dancing on my taste buds. It’s no exaggeration to declare it is the best blood orange beer I’ve ever had. Actually it’s the best beer I’ve ever had! Wishing they were closer to home. We paired the beers with the Grilled Cheese and Homemade Hot Sauces, a winning combo. The gooey cheese melted with steak was perfectly toasted bread was comfort food at its finest. But what truly elevated our experience were the homemade hot sauces brought to our table by the friendly employee. Each sauce had its own unique kick, adding layers of flavor to our meal. Kudos to the chef for these fiery delights! Brass Bear Brewing strikes the perfect balance between comfort and culinary excellence. Whether you’re craving a hearty sandwich, exploring unique hot sauces, or seeking out extraordinary beer, this place delivers! Brass Bear’s setting is picturesque yet urban, overlooking a parking area with a view of the mountains. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness added to the overall charm. We got to talk to the owner and she was very friendly. We highly recommend giving Brass Bear a visit!

Let me start by saying I don’t always leave reviews. A lot of my subscribers have been asking, hey, why haven’t you left an any reviews lately? Well this is what I’ll say. You can’t rush perfection! I rolled into brass bears funky zone on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in February. I was driving back from a bender in Paso Robles and really needed a place to get 6 beers to tide me over until I got home. As you all know, I LOVE bears. I’ve always wanted to have a bear of my own, but the next best thing is drinking at every bear-related establishment I can across. I’ve been to many of the greats- black bear diner (Shasta is better then Redding in my opinion- see my review for more details), Grizzly Outfitters, bear mountain, you get the idea. So when I saw brass BEAR funk zone, I had to stop in. First, I ordered 6 beers. I went with the blonde (x6). I love blondes. Then, for my second course, I had their tri tip grilled cheese. That thing was GOOD mate! I skipped dessert as I was so satisfied with my 6 beers and tri tip grilled cheese. My girlfriend (don’t tell my wife) loved the lemonade. She got 4 of em. As you all know, I always love to try the bathroom at places I go. You can tell a lot about an establishment by the surfaces in their bathroom. Beautifully done, as you’d expect. Id highly recommended a visit, even if you don’t use it as intended. One last note- the place has great art. As a fellow Australian, I loved seeing and hearing about the owners journey across gods country. It must’ve taken quite a few years to walk around the entire thing! Kudos mates.

Here are first impressions from my quick stop to eat at the Brass Bear Brewing & Bistro. It is a comfy, well spread out brew house with a manageable selection of eats. For food I tasted the skewered shrimp and potato cake both were pretty good. Really liked the 2 year aged beef Brass Bear Burger and recommend this when you visit. Portions were fine and the costs were in line with similar estabs. Instead of a brew I opted for a Strawberry Bliss cocktail which was just right. The open air and large area makes this a great place to meet up for small groups. The address is on Anacapa but it's a little tricky to find wedged in between wine tasting establishments (in the back). There's public parking opposite the Anacapa way in which is convenient. This lounge worthy setup definitely leverages the great weather in Santa Barbara with partially covered seating. The service was great and the staff welcoming. I'm not a huge fan of ordering at the front counter and then being sent to your seat to wait for your food style places but they make it work. I think this setup may save in waitstaff (?) but it may also short the bistro in some upsell. I could have easily had more to drink or even a dessert if someone came up to ask. But seeing as the business end is all done up front, it doesn't lend itself to this. Overall I liked The Brass Bear and will come again. Hope others will too! Another location opening up soon in upper State Street.

We have now had the pleasure of hosting three events with Brass Bear, both at their Uptown and Downtown locations, and every experience has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we started planning to the end of each event, their team has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.

First, let’s talk about the food. Every dish we've tried has been absolutely delicious. Not only is the quality outstanding, but the food is also served promptly, ensuring that guests never have to wait. Whether it’s appetizers, mains, or desserts, you can truly taste the care and effort that goes into their menu. The staff even adjusted our food menu to suit our preferences, ensuring that everything was exactly how we wanted it.

The staff at Brass Bear are a true highlight. They are attentive, professional, and always ready to lend a hand with a smile. It’s rare to find such a team that is so dedicated to making sure your event runs smoothly. A special shoutout goes to Emily, our event coordinator, who is an absolute gem and a major asset to their team. Emily guided us through the planning process for each event flawlessly. She made everything feel so seamless, from helping us tailor our menu to fit our needs to organizing drink tickets and handling the fine details that make a party memorable. She took the stress out of planning entirely, allowing us to enjoy the events without worry.

The venues themselves are fantastic. Both Uptown and Downtown locations offer a great atmosphere that works perfectly for any type of gathering. Whether you’re planning a team-building event, a holiday party, or just a special occasion, Brass Bear creates an environment that feels welcoming and polished.

In all honesty, I can’t recommend Brass Bear highly enough. Their commitment to excellence, the quality of their food, the attentiveness of their staff, and their ability to deliver a stress-free and enjoyable event make them stand out above the rest. If you’re looking for a venue that will take care of every detail and treat your event with the care it deserves, Brass Bear is the place to go. We’re already looking forward to hosting more events with them...
