Orchard Valley Coffee — Restaurant in Santa Clara

Had a bad experience and never going back.

We had been regular customers during the short time they’ve been opened since it is nearby and conveniently located. The coffee is okay. The staff is young, immature and offered poor customer service which was passable until one day when it was horrible.

We ordered a pound cake warmed up for here. First they gave us the pound cake cold. When we requested that it be warmed up, the worker complained that it was not specified on the order. When I requested he remove the plastic before warming, he rudely told me he could not remove the plastic and I must do it. After I removed the plastic, he let it sit in the microwave for another 15 minutes while he went to the back, prepared and waited on other customers who had arrived after us by taking orders to their tables. When he was done serving all other customers, he walked back to the cashier, looked up our order and started yelling at us across the room that we hadn’t paid for a pound cake after making us wait all that time. When I requested to cancel the pound cake since we had not received it and we were done with our coffee, he complained that now he “had to” throw the pound cake in the trash.

The worst part was the owner and the person who took the order were there the whole time, witnessed the behavior and did nothing!!

After the worker threw the pound cake in the trash, the owner offered another pound cake but it was too late!...

It won’t be a short story. I used to go here when the name of the coffee shop was Paper Moon. I’m not sure if the business belongs to the same owner or not, anyways… Today morning around 9:30 on February 14th, Happy Valentine’s Day, my friends and I came here to start our day right. I ordered large latte with pecan bar. Spend almost $15 with tips. And I got the small one with no excuse. After I point on it, the barista decided to simply pour from a small glass into a large one and top up with what he saw fit. To say I was surprised it doesn’t say anything: there wasn’t nice foam or patter on the top, and I don’t even say about “service”. I was not going to ruin my day and decided to try what he did. On my opinion, with these transfusions from one glass to another, there wasn’t enough coffee taste and I politely asked to add an extra shot. He took the coffee and aggressively poured it into my glass, even splashing a little. This unacceptable behavior was the last drop. I asked him to make me a new one from scratch… long story short, he started to argue with me. I asked his name but he refused to name himself. Ridiculous! I was so disappointed… I told him that I’m going to leave a bad review but looked like he wasn’t care much. So here I am.

I happened to be in this area for work, and I was looking for a quick spot to grab a croissant and coffee before heading out on my workday. I stumbled across Orchard Valley Coffee and was a little surprised when I walked in. The storefront is beautiful, they have good music playing, and everything felt very clean and put together.

I ordered a chocolate croissant and a vanilla late and it exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and clearly was dedicated to providing a good customer experience. If you go here, you can count on a good experience! 5/5...
