This location is 3.5 stars. The young lady the bleached rogue bangs obviously did not want to be working there and provided the bare minimum service. I didn't create a stink about her attitude but it doesn't help and she didn't provide any suggestions. Also debated whether to get the family meal versus separate combo items since the cost would be similar. So I asked for clarification as to what exactly was included in the family meal and was told it was basically my choice of any 3 meats shown as included, 4 scoops of rice and 4 scoops of mac salad. So I opted instead for 2 chicken combo meals, 1 teriyaki beef plate, and 1 side order of mac salad (2 scoops instead of 1, where she didn't offer to tell me the price difference) so my total was a little over $49 incl tax. I didn't flinch since I knew it was comparable to the family meal cost but literally laughed out loud and said aloud, "Huh, maybe I should've gotten the family meal instead?" The disgusted stare I got back from her...sheesh.
It's too bad...I don't know if I'll bother to come back to this spot. I used to go to the one in Chatsworth all the time when I worked there. The portions there seem to be just a tad more and the lady that was always there (she might even open that location if these are franchised - IDK) was always super friendly and offered great suggestions.
So 1 star off for the minimal customer service. No, she wasn't slammed when I got there and ordered. The place did end up getting busy with phone in and mobile orders 10 mins afterwards. But she was on break and the other lady was super busy taking all the orders and bagging up the food. The 2 cooks I saw where definitely working hard too.
Note, the food here is better prepared than the other well known Hawaiian restaurant (replace the q with l). While the prices aren't the cheapest, you will get a large portion of relatively good food.
Hopefully, this place will last since it's something different from the numerous hamburger, taco/burrito, sushi joints out...
Read moreI ordered the Teriyaki chicken, and 2 orders of a diffetent chicken dish that was supposed to be fried I think. But all 3 dishes were the same. I didnt realize that until I got home, however, despite the error, we all just ate what I brought home and it was great. Alot of chicken in those teriyaki dishes! I also reluctantly decided to try the SPAM sushi.... I couldn't believe how amazing it was! I never thought SPAM could be so delicious! I also got the fried shrimp appetizer and a macaron ice cream and those, too, were fantastic. The shrimp were large and butterflied and the ice cream was just a great way to finish everything off. I had a $5.00 off coupon that i found in InsideSCV magazine and the whole thing cost me $41. Basically that order fed 3 people dinner with leftovers for lunch the next day. Even the dogs got fed a little. Great value, inviting atmosphere. I will definately go back to...
Read moreBarely edible. My fish and shrimp were out of a freezer box that can be purchased at any grocery store or warehouse establishment. Macaroni salad out of an industrial size tub. Had no flavor whatsoever. The fish was a mystery. Even the rice was undercooked. I took a few bite and tossed it. Wasn't even fit for the raccoons. I have enjoyed Hawaiian BBQ in Hawaii on several islands. If that is what one might be expecting, well that isn't it. All premade or frozen food. Sorry, but I was very disappointed. Service was nice, place looked reasonably clean, just can't get over the poor...
