Coasters Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Santa Cruz

Great service, and bartender, best bacon body Mary ever!!!(just my opinion, and I have had lots to compare it with) garnished with celery, pepper hi I, olive, onion, aspergras, green bean..and wait for it...bacon.. seriously good!!!its a sports bar , as well, lots of TV screens, there is also seating outside, with another bar serving normal drinks and summer daily drink specials ( different from the ones offered inside),, dance floor, you may take your food and drink outside, or get served outside,..it opens to the crosswalk that opens up to arcade or sand, or sometimes volleyball courts.. it has a pet friendly eating lounge area, too ! there is also a great bowling alley housing all this good stuff, with midnight , blacklight ,bowling with music ,, and extremely up-to-date scoring machines...the full bar and usual 'alley food' + the restaurants menu is also served in the bowling area..there own parking lot( which, on a Friday summer concert being offered,parking is hard to find), so don't try to park in bowling alleys lot, your car WILL BE TOWED,if you aren't going to be IN the bar or alley.theree is parking on street , or in the adjacent lot at $15 for the day.,as well as more parking ,along the streets, ALOT OF THOSE STREETS ARE ONE WAY OR RESIDENT ONLY,, so be careful...

We actually really like the place overall. We like to karaoke while on vacation in Santa Cruz.

Unfortunately the karaoke DJ's are terrible...and really rude. The Friday night Karaoke DJ was a rude bartender on Thursday and a rude karaoke DJ on Friday....He would ignore people at the bar...He would sing behind people, especially if they didn't sing the song well. While everyone is cheering on people, he was emotionless. Too bad, the place has potential to be a greater tourist spot than it is.

I'd give the Friday night bar staff "5 stars", they are phenomenal especially with the crowd they get. They have $5 Jello shots, which are really good! Honestly really nice customers come in. Lots of fun college students and tourists....We really do have a great time.

The unfriendly karaoke DJ dude/bartender.....he needs to go to people manner school. Just rude.

Coasters is the only hang out closest to the Boardwalk. Wish they did more, like live bands in the outdoor area or in the bar.

Overall I recommend the experience. Gave "3 Stars" because we had to deal with the guy 2 days in a row.

If I could give zero stars I would. I Walked in sat down and was not greeted. Several employees walked by & looked and me and my family but did not say anything. My friend had to get up & go get that bartender for a drinking menu. Who by the way by looked as though she couldn’t be bothered to help us as she cleaned off tables. She finally gave us drinking menus and walked away. Instead of checking on us or coming back to take our order she decided to ignore us. We waited an additional 20mins before deciding to leave.
