We had another hotel booked in capitola, but we saw this hotel was half the price of that. We decided to try this hotel. Across the street from the boardwalk, they told us ocean view, sounded good.. that is until we checked in. Checked in and was told no ocean view rooms available, first come first served. We called almost one month ago to reserve ocean room. They told us sorry!! Ok so we checked in and attempted to use the elevator. I say attempted because for half our stay the elevator got stuck on the second floor or never opened on the first. Bring some comfortable shoes because you will get to know the stairs!! Opened the door and got a strait smell of musty. I expected more from a renovated room, but I entered the room, and noticed how small thebathroom was. I went to unpack the suitcase and noticed there is no draws to put your stuff in, only shelves inside aamoir. There is a small nitch they made int an open closet. Not bad space actually. Went to lay down on the bed. Oh my goodnes!! CRAP CRAP AND MORE CRAP it was awful awful!! Springs actually poke you. Had to sleep on top of blankets to avoid the springs! Was ridiculous. If you are going to renovate then do the beds please!! Their claim is 42 inch flat screen. The television was awful too. The channels were scrambled, blurry, and the channels that did work only worked for a couple hours max then they got all jumbley and scrambled. There is one outlet between the beds. One outlet is used for the lamp so if you need light and have 2 things to plug in like a tablet and phone you Will be out of luck. However you could use the outlet behind the table. But that's it for outlets. Unless you want to use the one in the bathroom. The outlet covers are missing, be careful when traveling with children. If you are traveling with kids that are old enough to go to the boardwalk by theirselves and you litraly going to just use the room for shower and sleep then it's a good deal because the boardwalk is right there. If you are going to be there to vacation with the family and will be there a few days and doing more then the boardwalk you might want to look elsewhere. The continental breakfast was decent. Bagels, muffins, pastry, fruit, coffee and orange juice. I will not be returning to this hotel, I was very disapointed in their...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here on June 20th for one night in room 301, we were in town for a friends birthday where we all relaxed on the beach. We checked in at 3pm, set our bags down, and immediately went back down to the beach for the rest of the day. When we got back to the room that night near 10pm, my pregnant wife was tired and wanted to wash the sand off her legs, when we went to look at the shower we found three clumps of hair on the wall, a small pile of soap on the tub, and hair on the bathroom floor. We also found hair on my wife’s pillow and a couple of bugs in one of the corners on the ceiling. This is highly unsanitary and not safe, it made us wonder if the room was even cleaned to begin with. I went down to show the front desk employee who was mortified of what we found, he worked with us to get us to the spare room that was open that night. He was very nice, and said he would have a manager call us the next day about a higher discount as all he was able to give us that night was 10% and we all agreed we deserved a higher discount.
Now it is June 30th, still did not receive a call from the manager to discuss a discount. So I called and followed up, the manager was out when I called and I happened to miss his call when he called me back. His voicemail said he refunded only 15% back to my card. 15% is disrespectful given we had to pack up near 11pm at night to go to a new room and that we were in a room with clumps of black hair in the shower and pillow. The employee that helped us change rooms that night was nice, but this place overall was unsanitary. We’ve stayed in plenty of beach towns before, but never have I experienced such a dirty room. We won’t be coming back here again and neither will our family. 15% discount is just simply not enough for putting us through that, especially with a 7 month...
Read moreMy family has been staying at Carousel Bean Inn for over 15 years, we love coming here. It may be a “two star” hotel, but in my opinion the renovated rooms, location, service, free parking, and complimentary breakfast make it a three star experience! The rooms are beautiful, and spacious enough for us to fit the pack n play for our 6 month old baby. The fridge with a freezer compartment was awesome for storing ice from the ice machine, and the microwave made heating baby food convenient. They also have an AC unit which is essential for hot nights with a kid! The king bed was super comfortable and soft. Being right across the street from the beach and boardwalk makes things a breeze. We were running behind in the morning with the baby, and the staff were gracious enough to allow us a late checkout. Super friendly front desk staff upon check-in as well! Not to mention the breakfast was amazing. Fanciest waffle I’ve ever had at a hotel breakfast. They had an ample selection of breakfast foods to fill up even big eaters, and we loved the HUGE fuji apples they had (most places usually have red delicious apples, which let’s face it, are never good). We will be staying here every time we come to the boardwalk with...
