My husband was looking for good halal food in the Santa Cruz area that was open at 8 pm. We saw the reviews and thought to grab something from Falafel of Santa Cruz. I, myself, enjoyed food from a different spot thank God!
Issues:
They only accept cash, which gives ne an indication of a sketchy business as we did not see anywhere online where it says that they only accept cash.
My husband ordered a lamb shish kabob plate which includes rice and salad. The lamb was rubbery and had no taste the rice was undercooked and hard salad was watery and too much lemon juice. they told him they have him tahini sauce, but it was plain yogurt. Either they don’t know ur they lied.
We will never go back because we literally had to leave the restaurant to go hunting for an atm as we did not see any indication of “cash only” on ordering via phone.
Returned, paid for the food, and ended up with tasteless food.
I shared my food with my husband to save his life lol.
For people who look for halal food, my husband says “they claim to be halal but their practice in business is totally Haram.”
They need to stop trying to scam people claiming it’s halal middle eastern food and should try their best as YOU ONLY HAVE ONE JOB! Which is to serve good food to the public! Anyways I’d stay...
Read moreWedding catering from Falafel of Santa Cruz was absolutely incredible! A lot of people told us that no one remembers the food from a wedding. They were wrong. We are so glad we took our time to choose Sam and the Falafel team, our guests made so many comments about the food afterward, it was such a hit.
Working with Sam was very easy and he had an amazing menu picked out for us in no time that covered all of our guests needs from meat eaters to vegetarians and vegans.
Cheese pies and stuffed dates as appetizers and unbelievably tender and flavorful filet mignon and chicken kababs were accompanied by at least 10 different sides that delighted us and our guests.
Sam and his team arrived early which relieved stress from the coordinator and were amazing from start to finish. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgable about the food -- they guided our guests through the extensive and exotic spread, keeping everything full, tidy, and looking great til the end. And even packed up leftovers for us to have at our hotel after!
Thank you so much Sam and the Falafel of...
Read moreNothing good about this place...I usually do not post reviews so quickly unless it is really good or really bad. Unfortunately this restaurant falls in the second category.
Starting from the call i made to confirm the time to eating the food, everything is a 1 star, pathetic experience. The person who answered the call said that I can eat in if I am there by 9:30, I arrived at 9:25 but she said that they are taking only to go orders. As i didn't have other choice i decided to move forward. with the order.
I had to repeat myself multiple times as she could not hear me, I asked her to lower the music that was blasting in the back as if it was a night club.
Now coming to the main part, i would have let all the experience go if the good was good..I paid $22 and it is not worth it. There is smell in the lamb and chicken, and not to mention everything was salty. There were no napkins, plastic ware or hot sauce. I would get better service at a good cart where i can get similar but tasty food for half the price.
Sorry, but this is not your place please find...
