Pretty Good Advice: A Gonzo Veggie Haven
Stepping into Pretty Good Advice is like dropping into a rabbit hole of vegetarian bliss. Nestled in the middle of downtown, this joint has transformed into a haven, complete with outdoor patio furniture and a vibe that screams "Bring your dog--hell, bring the whole damn zoo!"
First thing that hits you? The aroma. It's a seductive blend of spices and fresh veggies that makes your mouth water and your stomach growl like a caged beast. I went for the Spicy oyster mushroom Sandwich (addd jalapeƱos) and let me tell you, this thing is a masterpiece. And the homemade hot sauce? It's like a wild hallucination in a bottle--fiery, tangy, and dangerously addictive. I drowned my sandwich in it and still craved more.
The service is lightning fast, the staff as friendly as long-lost friends, tossing around advice that's actually pretty damn good.
indoor &Outdoor seating available, which means you can enjoy your meal under the sun or stars,
And pet-friendly? More like pet-encouraged. Every dog in the neighborhood knows this place better than the local fire hydrants.
In a city teeming with culinary adventures, Pretty Good Advice stands out, not just for its killer menu but for its no-nonsense, all-embrace atmosphere. If you're in Santa Cruz and have a craving for vegetarian magic with a side of canine companionship, this is your spot.
Final Verdict: Get there. Eat the food. Bring dog. Trust me.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOMG, so happy that Pretty Good Advice has opened up a Santa Cruz location, meaning I don't have to go all the way out to Soquel anymore to enjoy their amazing plant-based burgers!
Since they've opened, I've gone three times with twice in just a week. They are a burger/sandwich shop with fries, salads, and desserts when available. All of their burgers are vegetarian and use a black bean/soy patty base, and everything can be made vegan upon request if it isn't already designated as such.
I've tried their PGA Burger and their Spicy Chick'n Burger ($9 each), along with a regular size side of fries with their vegan ranch. The sandwiches were delicious each time I've had them. Although a bit on the smaller side, they're still great and one of the cheaper spots for a plant-based burger in town. What's cool is that they also offer tiny mandarins when you pick up your food - free of charge!
There is very limited seating inside so you are better off grabbing takeout and finding a public bench or sitting at Abbott Square to enjoy your meal.
This is truly a great addition to Downtown Santa Cruz and especially to the vegan food scene since losing a couple of big namers in the last few years. Thank you PGA!...
