Over all you get what you pay for. I went to about 5 hotels before I decided to stay here. I paid less than 60$. The room was clean. Not terribly outdated. Nice flat screen t.v.The water pressures was low. Hard to flush toilet or to get the water in the shower to spray hard enough to wash soap out of hair. Also if your looking for a quite room this hotel might not be the one for you. Very close to road, and not so good weather striping. A bonus though was the microwave and pretty decent fridge. Close to eveything, in walking distance.

Adorable and clean family-run motel. My airbnb canceled on me 2 days before my trip so I was pleased to find the Islander had a vacancy. My room was clean, quiet, and the staff was very kind and hospitable. I didn’t end up using the pool, but the location was incredibly convenient to downtown and to hiking trails outside of town. During daylight I walked to downtown, but wouldn’t recommend cutting through the park after dark. Would definitely stay again!

Not the biggest fan of this motel. It’s on one of the busiest streets in all of Santa Cruz for one thing. It’s also starting to show its age. Just like most motels in Santa Cruz it tends to be a little pricey but I guess that’s what you get for being one of the first places to stay as you get off the freeway. The brand new Hyatt is less than 2 miles away, isn’t too much more expensive, has free breakfast and isn’t on a crazy busy street.

The recepcionist is awesome! It had the prices I could find online. Definitely worth motel/hotel searching ahead of time. Most hotels tend to offer better prices when you reserve at least one month ahead of time. No smoking rooms and you can go to the parking lot to smoke; trash can available by pool. No public trash cans onsite or visible near hotel. Includes: small pool, parking (weekends are their busiest days), small fridge, microwave, tub, sink, closet and hangers, table, drawers, and bed side tables, TV, wifi. Excellent black out curtains and the bathroom has a window you can open and close easily at your whim. Wide sized mirror over the sink. Enough sink counter space for 1 to 2 people. Rooms are designed for 2 people max at a time, regardless. If you're a family of 4, you're gonna to reserve 2 rooms. I don't know if they have kitchens, but call them and ask. I stayed b/w August 17th - 22nd. All hotels on Ocean St. were full; there wasn't an exciting event that I knew of, but there was a Ferrari car show at Carmel-By-The-Sea which is an hour south from SC (super, super...

This modest little place was very comfortable. Check in was easy, and the staff was nice. The breakfast offered for my stay (6/10-6/11) was simple: two types of bread to toast, two types of sugarless cereal, and coffee, milk & orange juice. This was less than ideal, but I had planned on going out for breakfast anyways. The room was very neat and clean, and the bathroom was a good size with plenty of towels, shampoo and soaps. The bed was high, but comfortable, and there are plenty of outlets per a single bed room for two people (four outlets including the bathroom in my room). The bathroom window faced a brick wall, so there were no privacy issues. There was a random door that I assume connected us to another room, but it was locked and there was no sound issues from this, it was just kind of odd. The cost, while somewhat higher than what I would like, was very reasonable for the given area, and it was very easy to walk downtown from this place (especially if you plan on drinking). I really liked this motel and would definitely stay here again (hopefully with a slightly...

We had to make a stop for our road trip and was looking for something affordable, and I booked this motel before hand. I was surprise how pleasant our stay was. Though the room was smaller than usual, it was clean and has the basic amenities like microwave and mini fridge at the covered cabinet. The decent size TV was right in front of the king size bed which was very comfortable with a pillow that is 5-star hotel quality.

The bathroom vanity, which was located outside the bathroom was surprisingly convenient especially if the bathroom itself is occupied. The size of the bathroom is not that bad as well, it was an average size for a motel. The shower is the usual bathtub kind of showers, with hot water runs in less than 5 seconds from the first time it is turned on.

The lady at the check in area was also very helpful and I would say very patient, I really appreciate her warm welcome from this property. For the price of one night stay I would say this is a place to stop and get some rest for your road trip. I definitely would...
