Unfortunately Santa Cruz has a homeless problem that for some reason they are doing nothing to help these poor people that are homeless due to the high rents in Santa Cruz county. There is literally hundreds of homeless living at San Lorenzo Park now I was shocked when I went there every inch of that park has tents and homeless it's not the homeless people's fault it's our city legislators fault they need to build some housing or provide housing for these people that are out in the cold terrible situation I'm ashamed to be...
Read moreFundamentally, the purpose of this land is no longer really a park, it's mostly a supervised homeless encampment. While this is very necessary given the state of housing in the city, it makes it not a great place to visit for leisure. The ponds are often kind of dingy, although you can still find a fair amount of birds and lilypads in them.
