After a day of enjoying the boardwalk, my fiancé and I stopped on the way out for a sandwich. We had never been here before so we were genuinely excited. I ordered the crab sandwich , fries, and a drink. After a couple minutes of enjoying the fries and beverage, I took the lid off and immediately noticed several ant like bugs in and around the drink. I lost my appetite immediately and politely asked for a refund. (I have never asked for a refund in my life for food) I was told, they could only refund the beverage and that they had a no refund policy on the sandwich. As stated before, I have never asked for a refund for food in my life because I always felt the hassle was usually not worth it. Seaside Fish and Chowder at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a hidden gem that every seafood lover needs to visit. I stopped by on a whim and ended up having one of the most memorable meals of my trip.
Their crab sandwich is out of this world—sweet, fresh crab meat served on perfectly grilled sourdough from Sumano’s Bakery, crisped in butter until golden. The flavors were perfectly balanced, rich, and comforting without being heavy. You can taste the freshness.
The staff was friendly, the service was quick even with a crowd, and the location can’t be beat—right near the beach, with that classic Boardwalk vibe.
Highly recommend grabbing a crab sandwich (and maybe a bowl of chowder too!) and enjoying it while watching the waves. This place is a must-stop when you're...
Read moreRaw batter and plastic straws :(. The fries were good and the parts of the fish that were fully cooked were good (in that deeply-greasy-so-delicious-once-a-year-it’s ok-heart-attack-food way), but parts were completely uncooked with pasty-raw batter and cold (must have been frozen) fish. I was actually kind of grateful that it prevented me from eating the whole basket, and I can forgive them - maybe there was a newbie in the kitchen with management was stretched thin… but what really ticked me off is that they are using plastic straws again. that is unforgivable, especially directly on the ocean. I think plastic straws were banned in our county in 2019 but maybe it was suspended for the pandemic, lucky for the plastic lobby. But they should do the right thing anyway. I will definitely be contacting them...
