First time trying this place and was pleasantly surprised. Veggies were fresh and made to order, the chile relleno was cooked beautifully. The server was very friendly and helpful and very flexible with plate combos. I could have even had a breakfast burrito in the afternoon on a weekday! Super happy. Only negative was the tables/booths hadn’t been wiped down despite the restaurant being completely empty. Planning to return here 😸

Tortas with carne asaada is prime. Service quick and nice. Not expensive. What more can you want!

Food is quality, BUT they are the worst taqueria in town when you compare prices and customer service. The prices reflect the organic ingredients... doesn't make it okay to price gouge you on literally everything else. Chips+$2 salsa+$1 sour cream +$1 avocado+$2 on and on. Unless you eat all your Mexican food w/only meat(A+ meat quality, but they make sure to put hardly any of it), beans, rice(they add tons of rice so they can skimp on meat), and lettuce...you'll be spending far too much on a simple meal. SC local for 25yrs, they need some improvement before I will support them regularly. Try La Hacienda, Palomar, or Salsas...

Fantastic healthy find in midtown Santa Cruz. Organic Mexican food caught my eye. Most taqueria restaurants don’t have health and wellness in mind. Viva’s is the only Mexican restaurant that is forward thinking about what they are serving the community. I needed to find a place that will accommodate my need to have gluten free meals and this place has several to choose from and they are easy makes on the menu. I ordered the chicken enchilada plate. I am 100% satisfied with flavor, portion size and pricing. The staff was attentive and helpful. I would make the 3+ hour drive just to get this...

They put quality first here- and prices are fair for the quality of their ingredients. Any meat you order is great quality cut and perfectly cooked- which also means if you come late on a really busy night, they may be out of the labor-intense meats like carnitas; or Torta bread because they buy fresh every morning from a bakery. Other places in town use poor quality meat, frozen bread, commercial torrilla chips- but I guess thier customers don't notice or care.

If you get there before 6pm or are flexible on what you order, this place...
