This little gem of a place was not on our radar during our trip to Santa Fe. And had we not read the reviews and only driven by, we would have kept on going. It's a small restaurant that we passed even with the navigation map leading us to the strip mall where it's located.
The staff was very friendly and the restaurant and it's bathrooms were clean.
We ordered the beef burrito and the Molcajete with two horchatas. I didn't realize the molcajecte dish was really a dish for more than one person. I didn't think I could put a dent in it but I think I did pretty well and almost finished the dish on my own.
We're from Texas so we're used to TexMex and the restaurant where we ate the day before (a more well known one in the shopping district) was just ok. We were a bit disappointed. This place was so much better! My husband compared his burrito with the one he had the day before and he was so happy with this one! It was seasoned so well and so flavorful, there was no comparison. The Molcajete dish was also delicious. Bursting with flavor. My only regret was that I couldn't finish the whole thing and we wouldn't be able to take the...
Read moreUpdate: The next time I tried placing an order, the man was friendly. Ordered two pupusas again, but they were only half the size of the previous ones. They were also much softer in texture, whereas before they were thinner and nicely crisped to cheesy perfection. So while the meal wasn't bad, it was disappointing in comparison to my first visit. Four stars for lack of consistency.
Edit: Appreciate the reply, I've added a star and will update after next visit.
Recently ordered two pupusas to-go (camarón y queso, frijoles y queso) and they were great-tasing, as well as an excellent value. The young man who took my order & rang me up when I arrived was very pleasant. The place also looked clean, and yet didn't smell of heavy cleaning chemicals.
I wanted to get some more pupusas this evening, but the woman kept hanging up on me. Seems she was discriminating based on the fact I was speaking English. Perhaps she only knows Spanish? Almost called back to see if she would hang up on me if I ordered in Spanish, but by that time had already been hung up on three times so figured it...
Read moreI never leave reviews but felt I had to. This was the best meal ever!!!.. so we ate here two nights in a row!!!. The atmosphere is casual, so take it to go and create a beautiful place in your hotel room or home with a bottle of wine and a candle. The Carne Asada cannot be beat!!! With the Pico de Gallo and lime on top , it is amazing!! The homemade tortillas are incredible and my husband had the shrimp one night and chicken the other. Both were fabulous!! The staff are friendly and humble and this is the most authentic delicious meal you will ever get for the price!! If they were local for me, I would get the Carne Asada every Friday night for life!! Thank you for a great meal and...
