Joy Sushi Bar, a small Asian restaurant, is conveniently located next to and connected with the Santa Fe Asian Market in the St. Michaels Village shopping center. Upon entering, I found the simple Asian-themed decor, with room dividers and hanging motifs, created a quaint and charming atmosphere, though the temperature inside was a bit warm. I watched the cook prepare sushi behind the counter and decided to order the dancing tiger sushi roll. The presentation was artistic and impressive. While the rice was a bit mushy for my taste, the rest of the roll was excellent, with a perfect balance of spice and flavor that surpassed my expectations. I would rate this sushi as superior to many other Asian restaurants in Santa Fe, with only a few places offering comparable quality at a higher price point. Given the high quality of the meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the very fair price. Joy Sushi Bar is an excellent choice for a quick and delicious meal at a great value.

Finally opened and the two young Sushi chefs did a very good job of presentation and taste. Nice place inside. There are several things not quite up to par as of yet. Why are they serving your tea in large styrofoam cups? Come on people, this is 2024. Are you at all interested in your grandchildren having a Planet to live on? And serving Miso soup in a styrofoam cup? Are you completely asleep or what? The miso soup was overly salty. The seaweed salad was very good as were all the rolls we ordered. Ok? Work on it and we will come back for more.

I sometimes go to the supermarket next door and they were stellar, my coworker tried this place, so I decided to try it too. I’ve been in New Mexico officially since last year and haven’t gotten to eat sushi at a restaurant since, this place is also very good and would very much recommend it to those who come to Santa Fe often. The employees were warm and welcoming, they have a variety of options for you to choose from, and the food tastes great. Hoping to come back soon! I got the Santa Fe Roll. Picture below :-)

I've been shopping at the Asian market for years and so I was excited to try their sushi bar. Everything is served on paper plates. Not everyone who ordered sushi was given wasabi and Ginger.. The salad ordered was very basic and not Japanese and had a pile of rice crispies on the plate which was very strange. My daughter ordered 2 sushi rolls one was the Santa Fe and they both completely covered in rice crispy cereal. Never experience that in my life but found it extremely odd. Note on the menu it's called white crunch. If it wasn't for the rice crispies these dishes would have been good but they were super weird. I Googled it and the in only sushi in the world I could find with rice crispies on it were dessert sushi's...

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience at Joy Sushi was disappointing enough that I felt it needed to be shared. I was served food that was clearly cold—not just slightly chilled, but like it had been sitting out for a while. When I politely mentioned it to the staff, instead of remaking the dish fresh, they just microwaved it and brought it back out. That’s unacceptable, especially at a sushi restaurant where quality and freshness should be a priority. It felt like they were cutting corners, and it really ruined the meal for me. Definitely won’t...
