I've had food here only a couple of times, unless you're ordering from the food trucks, don't waste your money. The kitchen is mid at best.
The food trucks are great, they get a lot of great people to come in and supply food for shows. But that's what I'm getting to in my next part.
Do you want drinks that taste like either grain alcohol that your great-great-grandfather brewed in his bathtub? Do you want service that is absolutely dog water? Do you want to go see a band you were excited to see in a venue where there's sound is worse than A room entirely made of linoleum? Don't look no further than Tumbleroot!
I have friends who worked here, so my review is not against the people who work at tumble route. I've had great customer service experiences, but I've also had horrible experiences. I had a friend who was a DD who bought someone a drink, paid with $100 and told the bartender that they could keep. The rest is change but could they have the bottle of Coca-Cola instead of the cup that was poured? I was politely told no. So there's $87 down the drain. Also, tumble root claims to make spirits, but the only Spirit they're making is the one that leaves your body. You meet God, their drinks are a mess.
The room is like some kind of sad Western auditorium. That would be great to listen to someone play a guitar on stage with no speakers involved cuz a mouse could fart in the corner and you hear it. Anything louder than that. All washes to White noise. You can stand in one corner of the room and hear hear the bass, another corner and hear the vocals, on another corner and hear the backup vocals. The only thing that seems to hold in this room is lead guitar and drums.
I wouldn't dunk on tumbleroot so much, but as one of the few venues in Santa Fe, their cocktails, although on par price wise with town prices, do not meet the marker for taste or actual content in them. On top of that, like I've expressed their sound is horrible in their venue. Well, even if you're not there for the show, you're going to hear it from like a block away whether you want to or not.
Drop some money into a better sound system and add some like acoustic foam to your walls.
But if you want a decent drink while supporting your friend's show, grab yourself one of the mojitos or strawberry lemonades, they don't hit the wallet very hard and they don't taste like you're drinking bath water mixed with nail...
Read moreCategory: Divey Live Music Venue and Brewery. Enter from the rear parking lot through the large barebones outdoor garden with picnic tables (some shaded, some not). When we arrived for an indoor concert, a DJ commanded the small outdoor stage and the smell of BBQ from a food truck made us instantly hungry (the brewery has no menu but rotating food trucks keep the customers well fed). We headed inside, up a few steps (or the ramp), through the main entrance, to the expansive interior with a stage at one end and a pool table, dart boards, and pile of board games at the other. Massive beams with corbled posts support a ceiling of smaller beams. Snag a table facing the stage or one of the high tops to the side, as we did, which have a great view of the stage and the original art hung on the long wall. We didn’t see any servers; order yourself at the bar from a selection of craft brews or cocktails, or choose from the non-alcoholic offerings. We came to see a Texas honky tonk rock n’ roller who put on a great, highly danceable show with a short intermission. The sound was Goldilocks for the venue: just right. There’s no chicken wire screening the performers from IFOs (indoor flying objects), as we have seen in other states (you know who are), but this is not that kind of joint. A good time was had by all. YouTube’s...
Read moreI came for a show and there were a couple things that really stood out.
An elderly man had a medical emergency and the staff seemed completely untrained with how to deal with the situation. The bouncer grabbed the elderly man by the collar of his jacket to pick him up off the ground to get him to the ambulance, like he was some drunk (he was not intoxicated). This was very unprofessional in my opinion.
The band was very talented, but could hardly be heard. It was hard to tell if the room’s acoustics were absolutely terrible, or if it was the patrons who were talking throughout the show (often with backs turned to the stage). When patrons act this way at concerts I’ve seen security ask them to go out side at other venues, I didn’t see security do anything all night. It sounded like a concert in the middle of a high school cafeteria. Even the band made remarks and the crowd was yelling and shushing people to be quiet.
Overall it was a very poor experience for a ticket price of $34. I’m new to the area and was hoping to find a cool music venue and brewery instead I will likely never go back.
Also it took 25 mins to get a damn basic hot dog and the...
