Del Taco — Restaurant in Santa Maria

I want to start this by saying there are two lovely ladies that work here whom I adore.

Whoever was working today did not give me a name. I drove from Nipomo in after work/school traffic because I wanted Del Taco so bad. I get to the drive thru with my kiddos and sat at the intercom between 3-5 mins and no communication so I say “Hello?” And no answer so I pulled forward. There’s one car at the window. They get their food and I pull forward. The window is shut and looks like they’re packing an order. I wait a couple more minutes and someone pulls behind me. Worker comes to the window and tells me a total and I say “oh I haven’t gotten to order yet” (I have my card in hand. And she says “Yeah well you need to be patient it’s just me and a cook here I’m helping them” I said “oh I tried asking the intercom and I didn’t get any response I did wait a minute” and she said again”you need to be patient.” So I say “well if you told me to wait a minute I would’ve but no one said anything so I just pulled forward” she said “what do you want!?” (In an aggressive tone asking for my order now) so I say “okay never mind can I get your name?” She said “I’m trying to get your order” and I said “now I don’t want to order I’d just like your name” and she started taking someone else’s order and shut the window on me. Again every other time I’ve been here I’ve had great service so I hate now it’s ruined...

In honor of National 🌯 Burrito Day I took a little drive to the nearest Del Taco in Santa Maria. I loaded up on burritos as well as tacos 🌮. The service was okay and the food is typical Americanized Mexican fare. I wouldn't say I was over or under whelmed by the taste. Maybe just WHELMED?

I can say I DO NOT like the fact that their restrooms aren't available. I mean, it's a RESTAURANT for Christ sake! What if you're with kids? Will they let them use them? Regardless, not cool Del Taco! As a public service employee I rely on public restrooms 🚻. Big 👎from this bus driver!

In closing, I can only recommend if you (and all others in your party) do NOT 🚫 have to use the 🚽 and are in the mood for mediocre fast food!

Addendum: Update less than a day later. Have to bump down. Several urgent trips to the 🧻 bathroom later I must say my digestive system is not 😵‍💫🤢 happy! Bought 2 full meals plus extra tacos and they told me I couldn't even have 1 ranch for all of that food and had to pay $0.54 for a ranch after spending over $30 on food. Ridiculous to begin with. Then they didn't even fill up the large fry 1/3 of the way. And the medium fry was less than 1/2 full. They chatged me extra for guacamole on my burrito but there was none in there. I got halfway through and there was none yet so I opened it up the rest of the way and there was absolutely none anywhere. The guy taking the orders also said "what do you mean" everytime I said ANYTHING. I said "can I get a number (whatever) with Carne asada medium with a lemonade" he responded "what do ya mean" 😑 same response when I asked for a "grilled chicken taco" which is the exact name given on the menu.
