As a Food Photographer, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Cafe Ruisseau during an exciting photoshoot in Santa Monica. It was an experience that truly showcased the passion and dedication this establishment has for delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
From the moment I arrived at the café, I was impressed by the attention to detail that the team demonstrated in every aspect of their service. Each dish that was prepared was a true work of art, carefully crafted to delight both the eyes and the taste buds. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were evident in every bite.
During the photoshoot, I had the chance to witness the barista's skill in the art of latte making up close. Their expertise was astounding, turning each cup of coffee into a unique artistic expression. Every meticulously crafted design added a special touch to the shots, capturing the very essence of Cafe Ruisseau.
Furthermore, the cozy and relaxed ambiance of the café provided the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot. The Cafe Ruisseau team ensured that everything was impeccably presented, allowing us to authentically capture the beauty of their dishes.

Read morePlease be advised that Cafe Ruisseau doesn’t have a restroom. And if you ask an employee about the restroom you may receive a hostile response. That was my experience anyway.
After finishing my coffee I noticed that there was really nowhere a restroom could be found in the cafe. I perused some online reviews and read that there was no restroom but one was available nearby, and in one review the owner wrote “We are always happy to walk you over to the bathrooms”.
So I asked a staff member where the restroom was. She pointed over my shoulder and said “there’s one down the block over there”. I asked “How far is it?” which was apparently all it took to set her off because she frowned and said “It’s at Tiato” to which I replied “How far is that?” and at that point I think she was done with customer service because she said “I don’t know it’s right over there”. Which wasn't very happy or helpful but I ventured in that direction only to find that Tiato (restaurant) was closed.
I went back and mentioned that Tiato was closed and asked if Cafe Ruisseau had a restroom. She replied that they don’t have a restroom. I said I read that the owner wrote “We are always happy to walk you over to the bathrooms”. She replied that doesn’t apply when they’re busy. She ended by saying “I think there’s a McDonald’s down the street”. Ok then.
Maybe customers can deal with a coffee shop that has no restroom, but getting attitude for asking about it?...
Read moreI really enjoyed my oat latte from Cafe Ruisseau in Santa Monica, and I can’t wait to also check out their other locations because of the quality of their products and the atmosphere. I’d also love to know more about the coffee itself - where’s it roasted, etc.
TIMING: Cafe Ruisseau was packed when I went! The line moved quick (it took 5 minutes to get to order and the line was at the door) but the drinks took longer - 14 minutes from the time I ordered! Something to keep in mind if you’re in a rush, but it’s worth the wait.
MILK: I was glad to see they both use and sell the Ghost Town Oats milk, one of my favorite oat milk brands. I went with the medium hot Oat Milk Latte ($5.50), which has 2 shots vs 3 if I’d gone with the large. I really appreciated that they don’t upcharge for alternative milks, as my boyfriend’s regular medium hot latte was also $5.50.
SEATING: They have both indoor and outdoor seating along with WiFi. All of the tables were occupied when I first arrived, but by the time my drink was ready a few spots had opened up.
PARKING: I turns out you can’t park in the parking lot on Colorado, as it’s not their lot, but there’s street parking nearby. I went with one of the 3 hour meters across the street, but be sure to closely read the signs if you’re trying to park in the neighborhood because most...
