I had inquired via email with Wally for a team work dinner after an onsite about the menu options for a group of ~20. He responded extremely quickly and sent plenty of pre fixe menus over with variety and was able to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free teammates' dietary preferences. Wally was super great to work with and understanding when we had a few people drop out due to last minute changes. We had 2 tables in the main dining room, and our servers Alex and Carl were fantastic!
I didn't take photos of the food, but everything looked pretty and the portions were generous! We rolled in around 5pm for our reservation, and everyone had time to settle in, order beverages, and a set menu plus choice of entree later on. Some team members really enjoyed their beverages such as the American Samurai, Chelsea Manhattan, and Early Fog while I got a hot chamomile tea.
Alex was extremely attentive at our table even while the main dining room got busy. We were never rushed, and for such a large group, him and Carl got the dishes out and cleared as fast as they could for the next courses. Carl patiently thought about and explained when I asked if there was egg in all the desserts since a teammate wasn't eating egg that day. It's been a while since I've eaten somewhere with warm, friendly service of such high caliber!
My favorites were the sweet corn ravioli, crispy squash blossoms, Kung Pao brussels sprouts, escargot stuffed mushrooms, NZ sea bass, and lobster linguine. We shared everything except chose entrees (and even shared those), and there was SO much food! My vegan teammate who doesn't even like cauliflower steak normally said it was delicious!
We were all stuffed by the time the last courses and dessert came, but we loved the intimate setting and cool decor. You almost felt like you were somewhere else instead of Santa Monica (West London, perhaps?), and we all had a great time chatting after...
Read moreWARNING for anyone with food allergies ⚠️
I ate here last Friday and it was one of the most dangerous dining experiences I have ever had. I have a severe sesame allergy and made it very clear to the server and manager. They repeatedly reassured me that the ceviche had no sesame oil. When the dish arrived my friend immediately tasted sesame oil and stopped me from eating it. The manager insisted over and over (3 times even after checking with the kitchen) that it was just chili oil until finally admitting it was sesame oil after going back to the kitchen to see what the base oil of the chili oil was.
His excuse was is that they had a new vendor delivering the food ingredients
This kind of negligence could have killed me. The manager even joked about driving me to the hospital which shows how little they understood the seriousness of the situation. If I eat sesame oil, I will go into anaphylactic shock and die if my EpiPen isn’t enough.
To make things worse I later found a curly hair in my wine. When I pointed it out the server said nobody there had hair like that and then made a condescending comment that we were the only table with problems.
Her exact words were “ respectfully, no one works here with her like this. The only person here with her like this is you but I’ll take it back to the bar and the bartender has short blonde hair.” The manager in fact had black curly hair and there was a server assistant who had long black curly hair.
They comped a few things but we still spent nearly $200 dollars for what turned into a frightening and humiliating night.
If you have allergies do not eat here. This restaurant does not take them seriously and the risk is simply...
Read moreMoez and Karim have done it again! Having been to a few of their other sister restaurants, I can confidently say they just keep upping their game. Our meal at Chelsea was a culinary journey, each dish surpassing the last in flavor and creativity.
We started off with the naan, served with a delectable chili sauce and raita - so good! The yellowtail & watermelon sashimi paired with chili oil and fresh serrano peppers was a refreshing and unique combination that I loved. The half dozen oysters, particularly the Fanny Bays, were impressively huge and flavorful.
The lobster sliders were a standout, with the crispiness of the lobster perfectly complemented by the sweet Hawaiian roll and a touch of truffle aioli.
For entrees, we had the short rib capeletti in a veal demi-glaze (not pictured), but an absolute must try! The tikka masala fried chicken served over garlic mashed potatoes was a delightful fusion, and the sweet corn & ricotta ravioli in a Thai green curry was probably my favorite dish of the night.
We ended our meal with some delicious desserts, and throughout the evening, the service was impeccable. The ambiance is trendy and upscale, making it ideal for a girl's night out or a romantic dinner.
I can't wait for them to open up their patio, so we'll definitely be back soon to enjoy the outdoor seating and summer vibes....
