I had the pleasure of being one of the first customers at Le Cafe de la Plage during its grand opening, and what an exquisite experience it was! Nestled in Santa Monica, this charming French cafe is a delightful addition to the neighborhood.
Upon arrival, my companions and I were warmly greeted by the owners, Bernard and Sophie, who emanate genuine French hospitality. The ambiance is chic, with outdoor seating adorned in pink hues, offering a choice between shaded corners or basking in the California sunshine under quaint umbrellas.
We started with a delightful Cafe Americano, brewed to perfection, accompanied by a generous slice of homemade banana cake. The dense, scratch-made cake was divine.
I indulged in the Truffle Barata Sandwich, encased in a wonderfully crusty baguette. The truffle cheese spread was creamy with just the right hint of truffle flavor, complemented by fresh ham and Swiss cheese slices.
The attention to detail at Le Cafe de la Plage is evident in every aspect, from the impeccably clean interior to the beautifully displayed pastries tempting patrons from the counter. I recommend that you eat at the cafe instead of take out. It's worth sitting down and just enjoying the ambiance.
The staff was attentive and handled our orders with care, ensuring a seamless dining experience. As a token of appreciation for our patronage, we were gifted a charming mug, which I now enjoy my coffee in daily.
Le Cafe de la Plage is a gem of a cafe, offering delectable French treats, delightful ambiance, and exceptional service. Merci beaucoup, Bernard and Sophie, for bringing a taste of France Santa Monica and Malibu.

Read moreIf you’re looking for a café that not only serves amazing coffee but also feels like a warm hug with a side of croissant, Le Café de la Plage is the spot. My family and I have been coming here since they opened, and honestly, they’ve raised the bar so high, other cafés in Santa Monica are probably considering early retirement.
First, the menu—chef’s kiss. Everything is made with fresh ingredients, and their pastries are so good they’ve single-handedly destroyed my willpower. My plan to “just get a coffee” always ends with me holding a plate of something buttery and delicious while pretending it’s for my 11-month-old. Spoiler: it’s not.
Speaking of kids, this place might as well double as a magical daycare. The team decorates with balloons and little touches that make our toddler feel like royalty. I’m half expecting them to roll out a red carpet on our next visit. Cameron, the manager, runs the place with the precision of a Swiss watch and the warmth of your favorite grandma. The staff? They’re so attentive and friendly it’s like they’ve been trained at some secret customer service boot camp.
Le Café de la Plage isn’t just a coffee shop—it’s a vibe. Great food, great drinks, and a team that treats you like family. Honestly, if they started serving dinner, I’d probably...
Read moreMy mother-in-law came to visit from out of town and decided to treat me and my 2 kids to breakfast. The food was delicious and almost everyone was friendly, patient, and kind.
Except one. With highlights, tattoos on her left arm and sporting black yoga pants, she was the epitome of a high school mean girl.
We ordered our food and sat down outside. Everyone's food came except mine. I went inside and asked how long it would be and she told me they're working on it now. She never input it in the system. It happens, that's fine. But instead of saying a simple sorry since everyone was done eating and I was still waiting on my order, she barked at me and my MIL that "I forgot to press one little button and the order didn't go through. I'M SO SORRY THANK YEWWW" and walked away.
Her tune completely changed the minute the owners walked in. It was "love" this and "love" that with a fake buttery voice. Highly performative and it made sense because I then saw her sit at a table with the owners probably getting her review.
I love this cafe and all the people who work here. This person completely soured the experience and I'm going to give it some time before coming back. It's a shame because I live a block away and loved coming here and bringing others from...
