My husband, toddler, and I stopped in last weekend. My husband is a BIG bbq fan, so we’ve visited our number of bbq joints. Our experience at 98 BarBQue was absolutely wonderful.
There was A LOT to love at this hole-in-the-wall authentic spot, but the best part was the service. Shauna was our waitress and honestly I think that she was the best waitress I’ve ever had anywhere in my life. She’s the kind of person that if I get lucky on a scratch off tomorrow I’m paying her a visit. You can tell that Shauna loves her job, because she loves people! She outdid herself with menu recommendations and pure hearted love and attention to our toddler. Everyone working seemed to have a great attitude. Someone from the kitchen even greeted us when we walked in. And there was a chorus of “goodbyes” when we left. It just put us all in a good mood after spending time there.
The place is so darn cute! Sports memorabilia and a few arcade games deck this place out. I loved the spacious wooden tables. From the outside you’d have no idea how charming it is within. It just gives you that “Friday night lights” feeling.
And of course, the food was fantastic! My husband had pulled pork and ribs. I ate the roasted chicken. Shauna was kind enough to suggest we order some of the fries without seasoning so that our daughter could eat them. The house seasoning was addicting!! So, we were glad that we had them both ways. Our portions were UNREAL for the affordable prices!!! It was the best roasted chicken I’ve ever had. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his and we loved the mustardy sauce on the table. You know that it’s killer bbq when you can go home and microwave the meat, and it still tastes incredible!
Thanks for a great experience! Check them out whether you’re traveling or...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at 98 Bar-B-Que, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone for an incredible meal. The staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring that every detail was taken care of promptly and with a smile.
Now, onto the food – simply put, it was phenomenal. The ribs were perfectly cooked, falling off the bone with the slightest touch, and bursting with a smoky, savory flavor that had me craving more with every bite. The BBQ sauce was the perfect complement, striking an ideal balance between tangy and sweet, enhancing the meat without overwhelming it.
The sides were equally impressive. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. The potato salad was a standout, with a creamy texture and a blend of flavors that made it the best I’ve ever had. Each bite was a delightful combination of rich, comforting goodness.
In summary, 98 Bar-B-Que delivers an exceptional dining experience. The combination of outstanding food and top-notch service makes it a must-visit destination for BBQ lovers. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their...
Read moreVery friendly staff and Motley Crue on as I walked in the door, very hopeful. Now to the food. I bought 200 dollars worth of food. I requested fatty cut and lean cut brisket. All the different sausages, potato salad, sauce on the side, beans, pulled pork, and dessert. The brisket was extremely dry, and there was no difference b/t the fatty and lean cuts. And they put a red spice powder on the meats. The spice was thrown on, so one piece had a lot of spice but most had none. The brisket was not good. I believe that it should be a stand-alone. If you have to add powders or sauce, it is b/c your product isn't good. The sausage was all covered in sauce (asked that that not be done). The sausage was okay. Potato salad and beans were delicious. We especially liked the sweet potato tots. The desserts were terrible. I have never seen a peach cobbler in the form it was served. Banana pudding was okay but had a mild aftertaste. This was Bill Miller level food. If you are from Texas or KC, don't bother or ask for a sample of brisket before sinking your money...
