This dining experience was profoundly disappointing. My wife's stuffed chicken was unpalatable, prompting immediate rejection after only three bites due to an unusual, off-putting flavor profile mirroring the excessive seasoning on my crab legs. The mashed potatoes were also subpar; a truly inexplicable culinary failure.
Our choice of restaurant was driven by the late hour, as most establishments in the area close at 9:00 PM on weekdays. We selected this location for our 20th anniversary dinner, anticipating a high-quality meal followed by drinks, based on Outkast's reputed excellence. However, the quality fell far short of expectations, highlighting a common issue with expanding restaurant chains: a decline in quality due to prioritizing expansion over consistent culinary standards. Maintaining simplicity, compensating cooks fairly, and curbing excessive greed are crucial for success.
The crab legs were excessively seasoned, regardless of sauce selection. Even the "hot" sauce lacked genuine heat, relying instead on an overwhelming amount of additional seasoning. The presentation was unusual, with an excessive amount of red sauce requiring gloves to avoid potential eye irritation. My preference is for a traditional crab boil seasoning, such as Old Bay. Even ordering without the "Special Sauce" might not have improved the experience, as the crab legs were also overcooked. The overwhelmingly positive reviews are perplexing, unless the quality varies significantly from night to night. The possibility of poorly trained or unmotivated kitchen staff is a serious concern.
Finally, the $200 expenditure underscores the significant value proposition discrepancy between the cost and the quality of the meal received. Do you know how hard I have to...
Read moreI love this place! We got out of the water later than expected and after cleaning up, every restaurant was about to close. My wife, 3 teenage kids, and I ended up going to an expensive restaurant, until my son looked this restaurant up on Google. It had a high rating and was priced incredibly more comfortable than where we were. So(lol), we left that restaurant and came to this one around 11 pm at night. We were a little hesitant at first because it said bar and we heard rock and roll music playing from the outside, but when we got in, it did at first seem a little too much like a bar seen for my Christian African American family but since we didn't have many choices left we stayed. And I'm so glad we did! Our servers Amanda and Kit was some of the most fantastic servers we ever had! And instead of just being a rock and roll bar(which did rock!), it was actually karaoke 😆 and the atmosphere was more welcoming than some of our favorite restaurants at home! My kids even sang songs in karaoke! And we ate some of the best wings and fried shrimps we've ever tasted in Florida. The DJ was extremely nice and took the time to lookup the songs my kids wanted to sing. And we had the best night of our vacating at a place I would have unfortunately looked past in a normal circumstance! Thanks 👍 😊 guys, we...
Read moreI rate this experience zero. Our party of 6 adults, a 4 and 2-year-old walked into Outcast Bar and Grill and saw open tables that could’ve easily fit us with a high chair. The manager said there was no room and acted unsure about our party size, even though it was clear what we needed. It was obvious we weren’t welcome, not because of space, but because of who we are. We left and went to Cajun Corner Sports Bar and Grill, where we were treated with basic respect. The difference was undeniable.
In response to your comment below:
This isn’t about justifying the situation from someone who wasn’t there. It’s about listening to the concern at hand. What’s needed isn’t damage control, but basic care and respect. Your comment only confirms how little of either was shown in the moment. I stand by my experience. We were told there would be a “45 minute wait” while multiple open tables could have easily seated our group. The so called “waitlist” was never mentioned. As paying customers, we had every right to decline patio seating, especially since we were dressed appropriately for indoor dining. Instead of offering a solution, we were brushed off. Something as simple as adding a high chair to one of the empty tables wasn’t even considered. That truth...
