Chopstix — Restaurant in Santa Rosa Beach

While visiting the Santa Rosa Beach area from Philly my wife and I didn't feel like going out so we just decided to order food from the area and pick it up. I read through the reviews and noticed a lot of people complaining about extremely long wait times for take out orders and was kind of discouraged but this was the only place within 10 minutes that was actually listed as open online. It was around 9:20 and it said online that they closed at 10:00. I called a couple times but no one answered the phone. I decided to just drive over. The lady at the counter was very nice and friendly. I placed my order and she said it would be ready in about 15 minutes (Which it was). I ordered the fried dumplings, house special lo-mein, general tsos chicken with shrimp fried rice and shrimp and broccoli with chicken fried rice. The food was very good and I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for basic take out...

Unfortunately this restaurant should either be completely redone or closed.

1. The place was filthy. Absolutely filthy from top to bottom.
2. I cringe to think of all the health code violations that are going on at that place. Staff did not adequately wear gloves, everyone touched everything and there was accumulated filth on walls, counters, floors - everywhere.
3. The food was very bland and suspicious in color. The meat didn't look or taste the way it normally should.
4. The staff lack training in service. The way they conduct themselves was somewhat nice but far from professional.
5. Our food was over 30 minutes late, and so was everyone else's.

Overall, they need to figure something out, because this place is a wreck. I am surprised that such a place is open in Santa Rosa Beach, where the locals generally have...

I was the first customer of the day in the shop. Space was clean, and air was redolent with good smells from the kitchen. I ordered a small hot and sour soup and a lunch combo of Hunan chicken, fried rice, and an egg roll. They said the order would take about 15 minutes, and it was timely. The soup was exactly what I liked, with a richly flavorful, slightly thick base of chicken broth full of mushrooms, tofu, and shoots. Excellent start to the meal. The fried rice had good bold flavor. The Hunan chicken was very good with vegetables rough chopped and the sauce just spicy enough (it could be hotter for me), with a good flavor profile. I will request it spicier next time but it was very good as made. I was craving chinese, and this lunch hit the spot....
