Full disclosure, this post is 10 whole months since the incident occured and despite how absolutely appalled i was and disrespectful the trestment from staff was i decided against a rage post at the time. With time to reflect, i feel i owe it to the community to share my experience. I ordered 2 items for takeout and rode the city bus from my house on russell and venture and walked my order back to my the fathers home at the new 4 story houses on Mendocino ave just past Kaiser hospital. So at no time did myself or anyone other than the restaurant have access to my food order. Among the 2 items, i ordered a chimichanga which I had ordered twice before at the restaurant with no issues. Unfortunately this time when I got back with my order it seemed as if it was a fajita order because it was loaded with red and green peppers and onions none of which were part of the chimichanga ingredients. So because of this I was forced to sift through it by hand to remove the onions and peppers in order to eat what was left. Upon doing this I discovered a clear colored push pin in my food. Upon my shock I immediately called the restaurant, took pictures of the item and asked them how to resolve this. The employee did not believe a word I said and demanded I returned to the store with my food. Because at that time the bus was no longer running, I had no other choice than to take a $17 Uber back to the restaurant before they closed. Any solution other than that was not acceptable by the restaurant staff. Upon returning to the store I showed the cashier the food she then proceeded to tell me they don't have those type of push pins in their store and that I was no longer welcome to the restaurant and if I didn't leave then immediately she would call the police and have me trespassed. Not only was this incredibly rude, it was accusatory and threatening as well. I'm not the kind of person who would make something like this up nor would I waste my time going through all that especially considering it was the night of game 1 of the world series. So I left the restaurant walked home to watch the Yankees lose feeling humgry, humiliated and completely blown away that a local business would treat me with such disregard. In hindsight maybe I should have let them call the police, get a lawyer and file a lawsuit but the embarrassment of their treatment made me want to forget it ever even happened. But it did and I want everyone to know how this restaurant employees treats their customers. This was my third time i went there and i would have been a regular customer and probably gone there once a week but I will never ever go there again under any circumstances,...
Read moreWow! What an awesome little restaurant! We decided to roll the dice and went there for dinner. I was totally blown away by the quality and the quantity of the food and the friendly service! The interior decore was fantastic with beautiful and colorful tables and chairs. The place was clean and spotless too!
They serve some of the BEST Mexican food out West! I've eaten Mexican cuisine in Colorado, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc. But so far, this has been the restaurant that made me go WOW after my first bite! All the ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection with passion! And the portion sizes were HUGE! They come on a 12 to 14 inch plate packed with food in every inch of that plate! My pictures really don't do justice as to the portion sizes and freshness of the food. I highly recommend the Chimichanga, Super Burrito, and the Carnita platter. The pork carnitas had the perfect crispness on the outside yet juicy tenderness inside -- which is quite a difficult feat. However, you can't go wrong with any of the menu items.
The restaurant itself is pretty small. Ordering part was self-service by going up to the counter. Once your order is placed, then they bring the food to your table.
The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The nice young lady that served us.antioned that they have been there since 1986. She is the granddaughter of the founder of this restaurant. I've visited Santa Rosa off and on for many years and never knew about this place -- quite shamefully. This is a must visit restaurant. I know this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant and I plan to dine here every time I'm...
Read moreFood was good, unfortunately customer service was really poor. Be aware of the different prices they have on their paper menu, which is different from the ones they have on the screens.
We wanted to dine in, so as one does we asked for a paper menu that we reviewed at our table. Then we go to order at the counter (like they require you to do), as I go to pay I notice that the total was basically double of what we saw in the paper menu, so we showed them the menu and asked why that was the total, and they just said “oh sorry those are the old prices, we forgot to change the paper menus”. It felt like a scam, cause later on she saw another client grabbing the menu I left on the counter and didn’t say anything to that client about the one SHE told me was “an old/wrong menu”. She didn’t even try to make it right, just said “sorry, sorry”, instead of offering to match the price from the paper menu (like an honest business would have done), or at least make the move of offering us a $5 discount or something to make up for their mistake… I’d give 0 to customer service if I could.
This truly felt like a trick the often do, but regardless from that the staff was incredibly unwelcoming even before this. Just for reference, we are not talking about a few extra dollars, we are talking about a 12.99 dish that became like 19, so multiplied by 2 people that ended up being a big unacceptable difference.
Since it was late, we ended up still eating there and the food was good, dishes were big (and the place is nice), but probably would never go back because of the overall...
