I reserved a room at North Bay Inn, 1875 Mendocino Ave, Santa Rosa, CA, US, 95401 for two nights; October 25 and October 26, 2019. Because of the Kincaid Fire, the airport was closed and my flight from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles was canceled both on October 27 and October 28. I had to request another night's lodging from the management of North Bay Inn. When I requested another night, I was shocked by the rude, inappropriate and incredibly angry response I received from the manager, an Asian Indian woman who would not give me her name. American Airlines called me at 9 AM to inform me of my flight cancelation. I immediately called the manager at 9:15 AM to request another night's stay. This horribly rude woman demanded that I present myself within 15 minutes to the office to surrender my room. I told her that I need some time to pack and dress and requested 30 minutes. She shouted that she had a party of five that needed my room in 30 minutes and if I wasn't out I would not be able to get another room. When I went to the office, she continued to shout at me that she had not had any sleep because of the Kincaid Fire and the owner of the inn was on the phone with her throughout the night. I responded in a calm tone that if she talked to her other guests the way she was talking to me, it was no wonder the manager kept her up all night, as I was sure a number of guests would have complained about her rude, nasty behavior. She denied being rude or shouting as she continued to shout at me. I said okay may I please have another room. She shouted again that I would have to pay "extra", even though the room was smaller than the one in which I had stayed the two previous nights. When I asked why the room was so expensive, she again shouted that it was all she had and I had to take it or leave. She rudely said, "Do you want the room or not? If you don't, get out, we're busy." I reluctantly took the room. Because of the shabby way I was treated, I assure you that I will never stay in this hotel or in any hotel operated by the owners of this establishment ever again. It is my hope that these unworthy innkeepers will lose business until the manager is replaced by a stable, professional, customer serving individual. As a post note, when my taxi arrived at the hotel to pick me up, this crazed women came running out of the office to demand what he was doing there? I ask you, since when is it strange to see a taxi enter a hotel parking lot? The woman...
Read moreI reccomend this place overall and my only criticisms are mostly because of my preferences. My interactions with employees at this hotel have been a mixed bag (mostly good), but it is a nice experience when I stay here. The property is clean, comfortable, and the location is nice in the sense that it's near a lot of things like food and entertainment and is very close to the downtown area. There is variations in noise level because of the street but it's not bad. For me, the only real downside to staying here is their guest policy, which is very strict and comes with an expensive fee if violated. It's frustrating for my situation because I can't drive, so trying to coordinate transportation/social interactions with my local friends/family is a headache when I stay here. It'd be nice if there was at least leeway for brief and reasonable guest visits. The first time I got a room here, my friend had driven me so I could check in and drop off my bags, and was waiting in the car for me. When the woman checking me in asked how many people were staying in the room, I answered, and a man came in from the other room to inform her that I had someone in the car and insinuated I was lying (at least they pay attention to security cameras, I guess). It was a confrontational and pretty off-putting experience to be honest, because I've never had to worry about these situations at other hotels I've stayed in. The price is great though (granted it fluctuates, but still) and the rooms are nice, so this place stays a go-to location for me in the Santa Rosa area. The only things that keep me from leaving 4 stars is that the beds are hard (I always seem to wake up sore here), the shower head doesn't move to let you control where water sprays, the towels are rough, and the mirror projects a constant white light through the power button on it and it is surprisingly stark in the...
Read moreBefore arriving I attempted to confirm my reservation with the hotel since I booked online through a travel website. I never received any reply back though I used the North Bay Inn website. Additionally I’ve never met such an intrusive hotel manager before. He had called several times before I arrived on my cell phone to confirm my arrival. I had clearly told him my arrival time at 11:30pm the first time he called however he needed to call again and confirm my time at 11:20pm. It may have not irritated me however he seemed upset or something was wrong or that he was considering selling my reservation to somebody else.
The room was spacious, the TV worked fine though it was impossible to change the input on the TV. The bedsheet had quarter size hole. Plenty of pillows. Good A/C. Parking is limited but spacious spots.
The manager needs to take a chill pill and treat guests better than pests. If he wants to go to bed early he may need to consider getting a new job.
He called us at 11am to tell us check out is at 11 and asked when we could leave. We could tell he was upset since he had immediately raised his voice. We told him we would check out as soon as possible which was about 10 minutes.
When checking out he asked that I write a good review. I told him politely that I wasn’t sure if I could do that. He was shocked. I don’t think he exactly understands that he is in the hospitality business and should try not to be rude to customers by raising his voice and acting upset so quickly. He tried to change the subject and tell me how he needs us out at 11am checkout since he sells out all the rooms every night. It wasn’t exactly a convincing argument nor did it really explain why he was so rude yet expected a...
