The best Chili Cheese Coney I have had in the Tulsa Area.
It was 2:45. I didn’t check closing time when we left from home. The sign on the door said 3:00 pm. I asked the owner if he would still be able to serve us without it being a problem. “Certainly, come on in we will be here for while cleaning up”
The sandwiches come on either a hamburger bun or hot dog bun. A great selection of meat. I knew that I wanted a Chili Cheese Coney and a Smoked Bologna on the hot dog buns. My wife had the Chili Cheese Coney also. The Fries here are rated as spectacular by many reviewers. I was burned out on fries from this week’s dining out. Healthy coleslaw for me. My wife was eating light also, ordering just a single and chips. The combo meals come with a drink. $6.99 for my wife’s single and $8.99 for my double. Bargains.
The chili on the coney was perfect. Add onions and mustard; delicious. Now the smoked bologna sandwich with a little BBQ sauce, onions and I added a few jalapeno slices. Oh Boy! Sooo Good. After having the smoked Bologna, here is how I recommend you have it. Order it on a hamburger bun, order it with double meat, onions pickles, and BBQ sauce. Maybe even put some of the slaw on the sandwich. There is now, no reason for the McRib to even exist.
There is a sign in the shop that reads “All YOU can EAT ribs $9.99, Fridays 4-7pm.” You cannot buy a slab of uncooked ribs for $9.99. This is a steal. I am not sure if this is every Friday, so call before you go. I know a creditable informant, a certified BBQ gourmand, that has had the ribs. He rates them high, equal to some of the well-established BBQ joints in Tulsa. This is worth a try.
And there is more. In visiting with the owner, he mentioned that they are trying several other food ideas. Wimpey’s has a trained chef that is behind the scene preparing the smoked meats, chili, and sides. They have plans in the works to offer a “Pop-Up Restaurant Experience”, right there in their shop. Who knows what it will be or when. Keep an eye on Wimpy’s FB page. This could be an enjoyable change up for Sapulpa’s mediocre dining landscape.
A clean bright sandwich shop with super friendly accommodating personnel, great variety,...
Read moreI stand here corrected, now eating crow. I do so willingly and happily. I made a poor review of this place when they first opened and judged them wholly because their name is Wimpy's and they didn't serve burgers. I had noticed a news report that Wimpy's would feed local students who couldn't pay for their own food and I felt the kindness and brotherhood they were sharing with their community and figured that I was being obtuse for not giving them a chance based on not having burgers. I decided I would once again go in and give them a good try. I am glad I did because time has passed and Wimpy's has added to their menu, burgers are now a part of their lineup along with a few more delicious offerings I hadn't even thought of like ice cream. I would like to offer my most sincerest of apologies to Wimpy's and all of their dedicated employees. I was wrong and I truly am proud to say I am now a patron of your establishment. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door, the staff was so friendly and attentive. They got my order and made it right in front of me quickly and efficiently and were generous with the toppings that I asked for. I was in and out in a matter of a couple of minutes, a beautiful breath of fresh air in comparison to other fast food sellers here in Sapulpa. I stand here now proud to tell everyone that I was wrong and that everyone in Sapulpa should frequent Wimpy's as often as possible, to support our local business who supports us as a community. I humbly and whole heartedly apologize Wimpy's and thank you for being there and hope you will continue to be so for...
Read moreI was actually looking forward to trying Happy Burger today, but since they apparently close earlier than the time listed on Google, I decided to try another place that I had been seeing... I called in my order for take out as I was working down the road. The gentleman on the phone was friendly, pleasant, and efficient. He let me know the order would be ready in 5 minutes. I arrived in about 8 minutes and it was in fact ready as promised. The interior of the restaurant was clean and nostalgic. Reminded me of old time diners. Once again the employees were friendly and efficient. I honestly could not have asked for better service. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich. This was a hot dog bun filled with pulled pork, onion and jalapenos along with bbq sauce. With the exception of the bone that I bit into, the sandwich had an overall excellent flavor. I felt that there was almost no bbq sauce on it however and would like to have had more. For a side I chose fries with chili and cheese...Typically this comes with mustard but I asked them to hold it and opted for onions instead. I was very pleased with the flavor of this product even though you could definitely tell that they use frozen French fries. It was still very good however. I will definitely go...
