Keke's Breakfast Cafe — Restaurant in Sarasota

This place is great and I’ve always had a great experience. But this also goes to show that a server can make or break an experience. Our server, Valeria, initially was fantastic, super outgoing. We got our drinks fairly quickly, and she came back to get our food order. That was the last time we saw her until she checked on us once we received our food. The food he ordered was not what showed up. We tried to look for our server but she literally did not come back around until nearly 15-20 minutes after. Our coffees were neither refilled nor were we asked if we wanted coffee to go or any other drinks. It was disappointing to say the least. When we tried to get the wrong order removed from the ticket, I overheard the manager and our server complaining and he yelled “I’ll void it” at her. Not okay. As a former server, never yell at your staff… in public where everyone can hear you. I was walking out of the bathroom when I caught that conversation.

Once we got the bill back, it was $8.39 for ONE pancake. I’m sorry, it costs $3 for a whole box of pancake mix. And she said because it was one instead of 2 they took off $2 - so if I had order TWO pancakes - with nothing accompanying it, I would have spent $10.39?! No. I get there’s inflation and everything but good grief.

And for a fact, it’s not on the menu. 5 Silver dollar pancakes are on there for $5.49… She kept offering to bring the menu, trying to settle me and I replied with no, thank you. I have it on my phone, I can look it up online. I was just very frustrated.

The experience just wasn’t great. We will be back to this location to give it another go. All the other servers were very attentive to their tables, etc. Albeit they didn’t check on us but that’s not their job. As a former server, I still left 25% tip because you never know what someone is going through. Just a tip for the staff, being a team player goes a long way. When here for breakfest during the last day of my vacation. The people wear friendly and the food was good.

First of all the rating was 4.4 on Google when we food the place so a wait line was expected. I suggest grabbing a menu while you wait. Once seated our waiter was friendly and seemed like he enjoyed working there. He made some menu suggestions but we already new what we wanted.

I ordered the apple-cinnamon French toast combo and my fiance ordered the strawberry pecan waffle combo. Her Belgium waffles was absolutely stunning visually, she wouldn't let me taste, unfortunately. May have to rethink the relationship. My French toast was thick similar to the Belgium waffles in size. The Apple-cinnamon topping negated the need for syrup.

The sides are not to be forgotten either. We order bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. The first bite of the bacon was heaven sent. The eggs were also justvas good.

I am looming forward to another vacation in the Sarasota area just so I can grub on their breakfest and see if the lunch menu is...

PLEASE READ. So my wife (3mths pregnant) and I went there for breakfast, ordered breakfast and less than 2 minutes later she starts getting morning sickness and says she needs to go home (We live about a mile down the road). She went out to car and no food arrived yet so I asked our server to cancel our order before they get started on it and explained our situation. She says NO PROBLEM she'll tell JULIO the Mgr, I said great thank you so much. As I am hurrying out the door to get my wife home she (server) runs out and says JULIO the Mgr wants me to come back in and pay for my $2.49 pepsi before I leave!! I said seriously??? Wow ok, she said she was so sorry but yes he made her run out and get me. So please give JULIO the Mgr a nice pat on the back for biggest idiot of the KEKE breakfast resturants. I wish I knew what our servers name because she was so nice and apparently knew what my wife was going through. Never again for keke's if JULIO...
