As former food service workers we hate to have bad experiences like this at food joints but we don't want others to go through this.
We wanted to try something new so we went to Jake's and had a horrible first time experience. We ordered 2 sandwiches with fries and the zucchini. It took just over an hour for our order. We were not told a wait time so we thought it would be within 20 minutes. When we asked for an update on our order we were basically ignored. We also saw people getting food who came in after us. When we finally got our food we just wanted to get out but we couldn't because someone parked behind us and blocked us in. (The parking is ridiculous.) We were able to find the driver who also thought their food was ready and didn't think he would be parked behind us that long.
It was a Saturday night and we left the house at 5:30pm and it was 7pm when we left Jake's. We didn't even order a pizza.
When we got home we had to cook the fries in the air fryer because they were basically raw still and the zucchini sticks had more breading than zucchini. Frozen fried food is what you get with these prices.
Maybe it was just bad timing but these high ratings set us up to fail. If you want frozen fried food and don't care waiting up to an hour for it then it might be ok. For everyone else, you should probably save your time and money and cook dinner at home.
We understand the rush on a Saturday night and we know how hard they work but professionalism should never go out the window when things get busy. We hope things turn around and maybe we just never go to Jake's on the weekend when everyone else in...
Read moreWe ordered directly on their website the night before for pickup today. My wife arrived to pick up the order and they said the printer had printed out the order “late” and so the pizza was still in the oven. She waited 25 minutes from the scheduled pickup time to finally get our pizza.
It’s understandable that things can go wrong, but how a business treats their customers in these situations is really enlightening. Rather than attempt to offer anything for the inconvenience, not even a token “here’s a coupon to spend more money at our restaurant”, they just said there’s nothing they could do. They just bake the pizzas when the order gets printed and even though the order was placed a day earlier, that wasn’t their problem. They said she could come back and talk to the manager “Nick” if she wanted.
This customer service apathy is really disappointing.
Their pizza was actually not bad IMO, though my kids thought the base was “too crispy”. I would shy away from the...
Read moreBeen going to Jakes of Saratoga for over 35 years. Love their crust and great toppings. Only problem is their third party on-line ordering system. There is an estimated ready time which often has not bearing whatsoever in real life. There seems to be no feedback from the restaurant to the web provider as to how busy they are. Tonight, I ordered at 5 minutes to 6:00 PM, estimated ready time was 6:21. We got there at 6:20 and wait time was 25 minutes. We got our pizza at 6:45. We live less than 1-1/4 mile from the restaurant and can be there when advertised. If we get there on time we wait. If we get there late, we risk the pizza sitting for a time and getting soggy. We always order vegetarian and that comes topped with fresh tomatoes. We love their crust, but not so much when soggy. The restaurant staff is terrific, the web site ready estimate...
