My wife and I love thai food and found this place nearby and wanted to give it a try.
We ordered quite a bit of items (5 dishes; 1 app, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert) which totaled to around $100.
I really enjoyed how fun it was to eat the food and a few items required use of hands which my wife and I had no qualms with. (Filipino and Mexican household we love eating with our hands) It made for a fun experience.
The food was refreshing, I love the fresh veggies that came with the meals (we ordered some home made northern sausage wraps and a grilled pork dish with 3 sauces on the side) and enjoyed the wok hei flavor that came with the pad thai and the pad see ew.
We ended up getting sticky rice with coconut and mango as a dessert and it was amazing. The coconut was a nice cream that paired so well with the sticky rice and the mango was nice and tart which balanced the dessert. The sticky rice was purple and had a lovely texture and bite to it.
The service was lovely. Our server, Tim? Was patient and sweet. The servers and bussers were pleasant.
The ambiance was relaxing where you dont feel compelled to eat and rush your food. The interior design is modern, sleek, but homey. There was a lot of space to give you and your guests some privacy and it sets the intimacy vibe.
I want to shout out the chefs who made the food as it was 👏 amazing.
Special shout out to the servers and the food runners as well as the bussers who keep the place clean and inviting.
The only thing I would recommend is if there are sauces (chili oil/pickled chilis) available to eat with the food (pad thai, etc) in addition to offering spicy options for certain dishes, it would make the experience so much more fun a 110/100.
Currently it is our rating is 100/100 right now for both my...
Read moreFood: flavorful, but meat used tend to be overly dried or too fatty. We ordered the Kor Moo Yang, I’ve never had pork shoulder cut in a way that each chunk is 70% fat vs 30% meat, I was shocked that the restaurant decides to serve it this way because there was so much fat. Larb and Eggplant w/ grounded meat were extremely dry, we tried pork and chicken. They may be using grounded chicken breast and drier parts of pork for these dishes. And Eggplant dish was super dry, no sauce at all
Service: We sat down and waited for 5+ min and no one came to order our food or provide water. I even waved at a staff but she didn’t bother to come over, and there were only plenty of open tables, waiters were busy talking at the kitchen counter.
Experience: It’s still in soft opening, everything is new. But plenty of room for improvement really. I told one of the servers about our feedback on the fat/meat ratio, she didn’t acknowledge it or say she would share it back with her management, just nod and walked away, isn’t the whole point of having soft opening is to get feedback and refine your operations? I was looking forward to enjoying a legit Thai cuisine in the neighborhood, Khao has some potentials, but still lotsa things...
Read moreWe went around noon. There were still lots of open seats, but they sat us right beside a table that already had people at it, and the seats there were pretty close together compared to the others. This makes me feel uncomfortable. Much later, we noticed they seated a couple at a four-person table with plenty of room, which make me even more uncomfortable!
However the waitresses are attentive, take time to explain the menu, adding water frequently.
We ordered 3 dishes. The red curry sauce comes with roti is very tasty. The roti wasn’t what I expected — I was hoping for the layered kind, but it was deep-fried and quite oily. Half of it was dark while the other half looked pale.
The pad see ew with shrimp has 5 big yummy shrimps. The green vegetables are cooked just right! The flavors are sweet and a bit salty.
The Krapaw is super flavorful, and you can ask for how spicy you want it. You can either order the entrée and rice separately or get it as a rice bowl with Krapaw on top at a...
