Learn moreI'm not sure how this place is rated so high. Pros: Very cool décor and atmosphere, the salsas were good and appeared homemade. Cons: Everything else. The place was dirty, all the tables had bits of food on them. The staff wasn't rude, but they weren't friendly or helpful either. After stating it was our first time there we were just stared at by the person behind the counter waiting for us to order, no greeting, just stared at. We ordered 3 insane burritos since we were all super hungry. One chicken, one pork, one steak. My steak burrito was about 75% lettuce, I think they forgot the rice, and there was little meat to be found. I was still hungry after, but I am a thiccc boi so I didn't hold that against them. My wife had the pork burrito, her's was mostly rice, very bland, and only made it through half before deciding she didn't want to eat anymore of it. My son, who isn't a big eater, didn't have anything good or bad to add about the chicken burrito. He said it was "okay I guess". We left still hungry and disappointed. It wasn't expensive by any means, but for the price point I expected better. This was hands down the worst burrito I have ever eaten in my life. I hate to use the cliché Taco Bell reference, but honestly, I would eat there 100/100 times over this place. I really wanted to like Da Kine, it seems like a cool little hang spot, but it's just wasted...
Read moreMy first visit to Da Kine Diego’s Insane Burrito this afternoon. I live an hour north of here but was down for a week getaway alone in a condo on the beach. I read all the reviews and thought I’d try anyway as everyone had their own opinion on taste. The guy who took my order was a doll. I told him I wanted the pork insane burrito with cheese and I heard that it was all rice and beans. As it was my first visit I expected him to impress me and that he did. OMG the burrito was huge and this girl can eat. Many complain that it is bland but hello, the sauces are amazing so you can customize it to your level of spice. My burrito was full of delicious pork, veggies, including cabbage which I asked for and not too much rice and beans. The lizzy sauce was delicious but I’m a spicy girl so the hottest sauce they offered I slathered it with. I,opted not to order the packaged chips why bother. But for 8.50 it was amazing. Just speak to the person taking your order and they will hook you up. Burrito was cold but as I was taking it to condo I microwaved it fir 1 minute perfect. If eating there just ask them to put it in microwave after they make it for 1 minute. Delicious. By the way my husband did not write this review I...
Read moreI don’t understand how this place has so many stars for great reviews. I am puzzled 🤨
I ordered the vegan burrito which was extremely bland. No salt or seasoning were added to the rice or beans. The tortilla was doughy and tasted uncooked. The 🥬 and 🍅 were not fresh but stale in color and taste, perhaps a day or 2 pass the stale date. The sauces were ok and the guacamole was good, both of these side items were the 2 things that made the burrito or tacos edible. Our meal (a vegan🌯 and vegan 🌮) came up to about $20 which was my motivation for not throwing out the burrito. We threw away the tacos. My bf refused to eat after taking one bite of a taco and my burrito. He said the food had no life in it which is a great way to summarize our experience.
The cashier made me feel rushed while taking my order although only 1 other customer was waiting behind me. She seemed quite annoyed that I wasn’t already familiar with the menu. That was a hint from the Universe that I completely missed but will be sure to pick up on in the future. I want to spend my money in places that make me feel welcomed, appreciated and that they want my business ❤️✨ I didn’t get that vibe at all here which is why the food mirrored the service or the...
