I just got home from visiting Surfin’ Turtle. My first experience in the drive-through was a very positive one. I spoke to the owner (sorry, I didn’t catch his name) who was extremely pleasant, personable, friendly and engaging. We spoke the entire time the employees were getting my order together, which gave me that “community feel” you only get when visiting locally owned small businesses. I typically walk up and get a cone or maybe a banana split, but this time I was bringing home some goodies for a couple friends, and that’s why I decided to use the drive-through. I asked the owner about some reviews I saw saying they only served cones when using the drive-through. I knew that didn’t sound right, but I still asked out of curiosity. It turns out that if you’re in the drive-through (and possibly even if you walk up) right before, or right at closing time, they do only serve cones. That’s better than most drive-through eateries who don’t have a problem just stopping service all together right at closing time.
Another plus, besides it being the only ice cream stand in Satellite Beach, is that they take credit cards! (Unlike other local ice cream shoppes.) PLEASE NOTE, if you are planning on using a credit card, please bring a little cash so you can leave them a tip, as they can’t add a tip to a credit card sale because the way their system is set up. That may seem like a little bit of an inconvenience for some people (not me), but they do it to keep their prices down for US! Speaking of prices, their prices are lower than other ice cream shoppes in our area too! e.g. I purchased 2 banana splits (regular, not child) with extra toppings, a large ice cream cone, a bottle of water, and 6 cans of Coke, and my total was only $25!! Speaking of payment, I also found out from the owner that they’re going to start accepting Apple Pay and Google Pay (I believe he said tomorrow, March 14, 2020.)
Additionally, I’m going to go back vegan so I wanted to know if they serve any vegan items. As it turns out, they do, but only Dole Pineapple, which I’ve never tried, but I will the next time I go there. If there are other vegans out there, maybe if enough people ask to carry other vegan treats, they’ll know there’s enough demand for them to stock it.
Lastly, I want to commend the owners for rallying together with Del’s Freeze when they (Del’s) were robbed 2 years ago! Surfin’ Turtle and the other ice cream shoppes aren’t in competition with each other for a few reasons, one being their location. For the owners to actively attempt to identify the thief who robbed a different establishment says a lot about their character and morales. Now THAT’S a business I can get behind.
So, what are you waiting for? Don’t take my word for it; go check them out for yourself. Hop on your bike, in your car, or walk down to support our only local ice cream shoppe while enjoying being right on A1A across from the beach! We need to show them our support so they’ll always have...
Read moreI just left there I wanted to try it because I heard such amazing things about it. And man…. Let me tell you it’s Sunday night and 8pm but I sat in the drive thru line for 15mins without it even moving….not one single car left as the line backed all the way out to the road. I had to wiggle my way out of the drive thru in reverse around randomly parked cars because there is literally no way to get out once you are in line! I don’t know what the heck was going on! But it serves very little purpose to have a drive thru if you can’t hardly handle the 1-2 people I saw standing at the window waiting for their orders! One vehicle in particular was waiting when I arrived at the walk up window. And after I sat for 15 whole minutes in a non moving drive thru line i finally managed to wiggle out to a1a (another presumable 5mins later) and the teenager was just getting his milkshake I assume….. wow Atleast 20mins for a dang milkshake! That is insane! I find it a little ridiculous to have a drive thru when you have that limited amount of space and parking….. you either do walk up only or drive thru only ya can’t have it both ways when you don’t have a way for customers to get out of your parking lot! I understand it’s probably been a long weekend for those people in the store but still it shouldn’t take that long to serve one customer! What the heck is going on in there!?!? Anyway you need to do better for sure! Drive thru should be #1 priority with the fastest turn around because of the drive thru line gets full there is literally not gonna be anywhere for your walk ups to park not to mention the people who are in the drive thru not be able to get out of the line because it’s so tight in the parking lot if any cars are near the exit waiting for the drive thru line you’ll never be able to get out! Anyway I will try again and I will reevaluate my review based off that experience but honestly with that mess I saw there if it’s not in the middle of the day during the week I won’t even try! I can’t imagine what 2pm on Saturday or Sunday looks like! I might even just try my hand at walking over there and trying it!!!
As it stands I recommend you make sure you are not in any sort of rush whatsoever if you plan on going here! But hey! I heard the ice cream is really good! Maybe it won’t melt before they walk (crawl) from the freezer to the window!...

5 months ago Generic ice cream. Would love to love it but it's not very good. The flavor isn't there. The drive thru has was seemed to be an included tip starting at 15%. . I' couldn't even get my pups to eat the ice cream until it melted a lil and I spoon feed it to them. Unfortunately two small ice creams and two pup cups cost us $20. Which is insane. Twistee Treat is huge portions x3 and half the cost. Pup cups are free. Moos ice cream they have my pups love and only $1.50. . The turtle cookies are really cutie but dogs wouldn't touch them they are just bran/grain and not liked by my pups that are used to good food. The place is cute but also generic. I don't understand what the appeal is unfortunately.
I'll keep to moos and twistee.. half the cost and moos has...
