Hammersmith Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Saugus

Came here with a group of friends after work to have breakfast and a few mimosa's. We were asked for our I.D's or Drivers license for the alcohol beverage (understandable). But since we are traveling health care workers our Government issued I.D's/ drivers license are from out of state. The waitress stated that since we are from out of state she needs to see a valid credit card with our names on it before she could serve us, like as if the government I.D with our photo and demographics wasnt valid enough, you wanted to see our credit cards with our names on it?!. I have never heard of such policy in any restaurant establishment, club or bar traveling to many states, and since it's your policy, why weren't we asked that the first time we visited. I just feel like we were stereotyped, and racially profiled at this point. This waitress made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed the minute we sat down at our table. And since we questioned the policy and pointed out the other waitress that served us during our last visit, you can tell she went to counter to bring up the situation. Have you ever experienced and watch people talk about you and gave you a mean look, well these waitress did. I wouldn't call this a family restaurant, especially way we were treated! Ever since I tried this place out a couple years ago I've gone back time and time again to a delicious meal. I would always get hash omelettewhich was amazing but not very healthy and so fattening but there omelettes are huge and it comes with fries and toast so prepare to leave full or very satisfied. My most recent visit I believe I got the spinach and feta omelette which was also very good but the best one was the hash by far. So while they do have some vegetarian options I wish they would have more vegan options. But overall this is a good place and I've had nothing but good experiences. I must say I don't believe the lunches as good as the breakfast but then again I've only been there for lunch once and I've been there for breakfast the remainder of times is quite a bit of times. But the staff is always kind and the place is definitely more geared towards older people because that's what makes up the majority of people every time I visit. But hey that's fine with me the food is great and the staff is nice and they have bottomless coffee so this place is highly recommended. The setup outside was great, they thoroughly cleaned everything every time a table was finished. I took my mom here for breakfast this morning, I got the Reese's Peanut Butter cup French toast with a side of bacon and my mom got the regular French toast with bacon & sausage. Everything was fresh and fantastic. The bacon was cooked exactly the way I love it and the pieces of French toast were thick, tasty and delicious. Mom is picky about her coffee and she said it was great. I enjoyed a cranberry Mimosa which was a Perfect suggestion from our waitress. As for our wonderful waitress Angie, she was wonderful, great personality, always smiling, so helpful with her suggestions and really made our time their wonderful. During these crazy Covid times things are stressful , loaded with anxiety and full of fear of the unknown, Angie made it so we weren't worried about anything.
