Benton Station Bar — Restaurant in Sauk Rapids

Caveat before the review: It's four stars only because I've only ever had one item from Benton Station and that was the pizza, plus it was delivered so I did not go into the restaurant.

This was the message I sent them on their contact form:

"Good afternoon. I recently had the opportunity to try your pizza. The gentleman that delivered it to Riverside Church gleefully informed us all about the pizza. I was serving as an election judge yesterday and our dinner was the pizza. Well, I am from NY and, admittedly, a pizza snob. The gentleman used what most NYers would call "fighting words" by claiming that your pizza is just as good. I have been in MN for four years, and there have been many who have claimed the same thing and been far from it. So, I had some trepidation as I tried the pizza. Color me surprised when I discovered that your pizza is close to what I'm used to. The cheese is great, the sauce was great, and, while I don't normally go for Detroit-style pizza, found that to be inconsequential. Then came the thought: if you guys can get that close with a thin-crust pizza...how close could you get with a traditional crust?? Given that your ingredients are all fresh and never prefabricated, I think there is major potential here. As it stands, you are 90% the way there. While I can't say you would ever get to 100%, I think you can get to 98% of the way there. I was glad to be proven wrong and enjoyed your pizza immensely. The manager and the owner are about as adept at running a bar as they are at being reflective human beings and they are performing both as your average chimpanzee would. Such mean and rude people! The GM bartends everyday and doesn’t even tip her staff, or tip the kitchen. Managers shouldn’t even take tips let alone swindle young hardworking people out of there’s. The bar itself is basically your first stop before going to jail. The food is terrible and overpriced. They don’t care about customers and certainly not employees. Peoples alcoholism and gambling addictions keep this bar in business - nothing else. You get the feeling after being there that you just left the physical equivalent of a pyramid scheme. This place got me banned on facebook for an honest review of this establishment for the awful food delivered. The pizza looked dug out of a garbage can. A cali burger was a smashed roughed up only bun and patty. And the manager hung up on the customers who were upset and complained. Also told them they may never order again. They WERE good customers of many many years. As i posted this on their page. Multipule customers contacted me with pictures of god awful food. I have since then as a cook told them not to eat any if so see a doctor immediately!! I will be walking in with the health inspector!! Worst...
