Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie

My girlfriend and I went across the border for the day and decided to hit up the Applebee's local to Sault Sainte Marie, MI.

We were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter, I believe his name was Sergio, was incredibly helpful, kind, professional and courteous.

We ordered a wonton taco as an appetizer ( delicious) and we both decided on steak, which was delicious. My girlfriend's was perfectly cooked and she was quite happy with her dinner. Mine was delicious but slightly over cooked, but in all fairness, I was asked to check my steak, which I did. Where I went wrong was that I only cut into the edge and not the middle. I had wanted medium rare but got medium Instead, so it wasn't a deal breaker. I ate it all up happily.

We were very surprised by the pricing on the US side because dinner and drinks at a similar style restaurant on our side of the river would have been nearly double.

All in all, my very first visit to an Applebee's was fantastic. I certainly would go back and suggest to any friends or family to stop in when heading out that way.

Went here today for an early dinner with the wife....was given our salads to begin and I noticed my wife picking through her salad....it was slimy and brown. Not just a bit off but really bad...like when you've been away for two weeks and check your crisper after forgetting you had lettuce in it. Obviously no one checked the salad before serving it either. I think someone from the health dept should check this place out. We left and got no apology. Tried to go back to give it another try and waited for 10 mons while staff all chatted with each other in view of my group and two others waiting. Place was dead btw. Then server gets to us ans i ask to sit at bar side. She then says "you did not need me for tgat and takes the next person to the other side. Me and my wife looked at each other dumbfounded and left. We ate chinese instead. This place really needed an audit. It is really going down hill and losing business. I hear from a lot of friends to just not bother and go elsewhere....

I am literally sitting outside Applebee's right now after having a very delicious dinner. Waiting for a taxi as I reflect on my dining experience. There is a waiter here named Matthew. If u can and you get the opportunity to have him as your waiter you can expect an upbeat, cheerful person who does his very best to make the time u spend here worth every penny. Please treat him very well. All the staff here are kind and courteous and attentive and I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my daughter turning 18 in another state. He brightened my day and I truly appreciate his efforts. Also just now as I'm here waiting for my ride home, a staff member came and offered me a chair while I wait because I can't stand for long. I highly recommend anyone looking for a great place to have a great dinner experience to come to Applebee's in Sault Sainte Marie Michigan.
